We went through this a couple months ago with my daughter. I was pretty freaked out about the color change too, but honestly, her tooth just got a little darker and then kind of stayed that way. Our dentist said unless she started having pain or swelling, it was fine to just keep an eye on it. I totally get not wanting to jump into more procedures, especially when it’s a baby tooth that’ll fall out anyway.
The dentist did check her bite and said as long as she’s eating normally and not complaining, there’s nothing urgent. I do peek at it when we brush, just in case. I think it’s easy to stress about the look, but for us, it’s been more about making sure she’s comfortable and not self-conscious. If your kiddo isn’t bothered, waiting and watching seems reasonable. The anxiety is real, though—sometimes I still second-guess myself, but so far, it’s working out.
That color change thing totally threw me off too when my son had his baby tooth injury. I kept thinking, “Is this normal? Should I be worried?” but the dentist gave us similar advice—just keep an eye on it unless there’s pain or swelling. I do wonder, though, has anyone tried any of those cosmetic options for discolored teeth in kids, or is it just not worth it since they’ll lose the tooth anyway? Sometimes I feel silly worrying about the look, but kids can get self-conscious.
Yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from. My daughter’s front tooth darkened after a fall, and it bugged me for weeks. Dentist said the same—just monitor, unless there’s pain or swelling. I actually did ask about cosmetic fixes, but honestly, the options were either super temporary or not really recommended for baby teeth. It felt like more hassle (and cost) than it was worth since those teeth are gonna fall out anyway. Still, I do notice she covers her mouth in photos sometimes… so I get why you’d consider it.
