Weirdly, chewing on the other side after a root canal can make your jaw sore

Honestly, it surprised me how much it messed with my bite and even gave me a headache.

Totally get this. After my own root canal, I thought just using the other side would be no big deal, but my jaw started aching in weird spots. Did you notice your bite feeling uneven or like your teeth didn’t fit together right? I kept wondering if I messed something up or if it’s just normal healing. It’s kind of reassuring to hear someone else had headaches too - it threw me off for a bit.

Yeah, that’s super common after a root canal, especially if you’re favoring one side. Your jaw muscles get used to a certain way of chewing and then suddenly you’re switching it up - no wonder things start to feel weird. I’ve seen people come in convinced they “broke” something just because their bite feels off. Usually, it’s just your muscles protesting the change... and sometimes a little fine-tuning by the dentist helps, too. Headaches are par for the course with all that jaw tension. It does usually settle down as everything adjusts, but I know it can be annoying in the meantime.

Totally get this. After my root canal, my jaw felt like it had run a marathon just from chewing on the “good” side. I kept thinking something was off with my bite, but turns out my jaw was just mad at me for switching things up. It’s wild how sensitive those muscles can be. A quick trip back to the dentist for a bite adjustment made a big difference for me - plus, I stopped overthinking every crunch and chew.

Funny how our jaws just aren’t used to the switch. After my own root canal, I noticed my “good” side getting sore too - guess those muscles just get lazy when we always chew the same way. Bite adjustment made a difference for me as well, but honestly, it took a week or two before things felt normal again. Sometimes I wonder if we underestimate just how picky our jaw muscles can be.

Yeah, I totally get that. After my root canal, my jaw felt weird for days just from using the other side more. It’s wild how fast those muscles complain when you switch things up. Felt like I had to retrain my whole mouth.
