Had a root canal a few years back and honestly, that tooth is still kind of a pain (not literally, but you know what I mean). Feels like no matter how much I brush or floss, it’s always more sensitive or just…weird? Anyone else feel like post-root canal teeth need way more TLC than the rest? Or am I just paranoid?

Totally get what you mean. I had a root canal about three years ago and that tooth has never felt quite like the rest of my mouth. Here’s how I’ve tried to break it down for myself:
Step 1: Right after the root canal, I noticed it felt a bit “off”—not painful, but almost like it wasn’t really part of my bite anymore. I thought maybe I was just hyper-aware, but nope, that sensation stuck around.
Step 2: Even with good brushing and flossing, that tooth seems to collect more plaque. My hygienist said it’s probably because the nerves are gone, so it doesn’t “warn” me if something’s up. Makes sense, but still weird.
Step 3: Sensitivity is different now. It’s not sharp pain, but sometimes it feels kind of hollow or tingly if I eat something cold. Not sure if that’s just in my head or what.
I wouldn’t say you’re paranoid. I think post-root canal teeth just have their own personality, if that makes sense. Maybe they do need a bit more TLC, or maybe we just notice them more because they’re not “normal” anymore. Either way, you’re not alone in feeling like it’s a little extra work.
