“figuring out these little hacks (like the fork and knife trick) does make it feel more manageable. Cheese is definitely sneakier than crust for me too—sometimes I think it’s out to get us.”

That fork and knife trick is underrated. Honestly, I’m still amazed how many people try to “tough it out” and end up with a mess in their mouth and wires full of cheese. I always tell folks: don’t be shy about using utensils, especially in public.

About the cheese—yeah, it’s the worst. It stretches and wraps around brackets way more than you’d expect. I’ve seen people do the “pizza fold” and it just compresses everything into the wires. Ever try switching to thin crust or even letting the slice cool a bit before biting in? Sometimes that helps the cheese set and not melt everywhere.

Do you find certain toppings get stuck more than others? For me, pepperoni was always a nightmare—those little edges love to wedge into places you didn’t even know existed.

I get where you’re coming from, but honestly, I’ve seen some folks manage just fine with regular slices—no utensils—if they cut them into smaller pieces first. Sometimes it’s less about the cheese and more about taking tiny bites and chewing slowly. And yeah, pepperoni is sticky, but I actually found mushrooms way worse for getting wedged in brackets. Maybe it just depends on the braces setup or the toppings? Everyone’s got their own pizza nemesis, I guess...

I totally get the tiny bites thing, but I swear, even with my best budget pizza (the kind that’s mostly crust and hopes), I still managed to get stuff stuck everywhere. Maybe it’s just me, but I found the cheese on those cheaper pizzas gets all rubbery and basically turns into dental floss between the brackets. Mushrooms are a nightmare too, but honestly, the worst for me was green peppers—those thin strips are like little booby traps. Guess it really is different for everyone... I stick to plain cheese now and just accept I’ll be picking bits out of my braces for the next hour.

That’s honestly such a spot-on description. I’ve seen so many people struggle with stringy cheese—sometimes it’s worse than caramel or taffy. I used to think mushrooms would be easy since they’re soft, but somehow they wedge in every possible gap. I do think cutting everything up super small helps a bit, but yeah, there’s just no escaping the post-pizza flossing session. At least you found a way to make it work for you.

Cutting everything up tiny definitely helps, but I still get those sneaky cheese strings caught in my wires. It’s kind of wild how even the softest toppings can find their way into the worst spots—olives are my nemesis lately. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just my brackets or if everyone deals with this? Have you ever tried using those little interdental brushes right after eating? They’ve saved me from some awkward moments, especially when I’m out with friends.
