RE: Breath odor lingering after gum treatment
Food-trapping areas, cavities, or dental work that doesn’t fit well are worth considering too. If the exam finds a localized source, addressing that may make more sense than changing gum-care products.
RE: Thinking about replacing a missing tooth - what should I expect?
That’s a tough spot. I’ve seen a lot of families struggle with the same thing - especially when insurance barely helps and the tooth isn’t up front. Did your dentist talk through any non-implant options, like a bridge or...
RE: Why does every makeover seem to fade after a few weeks?
I actually think the structure matters more than the reward, at least in my experience. When I was trying to get myself to floss daily (not just telling other people to do it), I set up all kinds of reminders and even tr...
RE: Picking the right color for your braces bands: my go-to trick
Bright green’s a tough one - honestly, I’ve seen more people regret that shade than any other. It’s wild how much of a difference the undertone makes. Sometimes folks get excited about fun colors, and then they realize i...
RE: Braces in your 30s: did you know teeth can move for life?
Teeth shifting after braces is way more common than people think, especially as we get older. I’ve seen plenty of folks who wore their retainers religiously at first, then life got in the way - work, kids, whatever - and...
RE: Braces for buck teeth vs deep bites: did you know they're not the same thing?
It’s funny how you mention staring at your teeth looking for progress - happens more than people admit. I see it all the time. It’s not just impatience; it’s natural to want some proof those appointments and payments are...
RE: Getting used to my shiny smile: finally feeling okay about braces
I hear this a lot - people get so caught up in the poking wires, tightness, or the hassle of cleaning that the look of braces just fades into the background after a while. When I had mine, the first few weeks were all ab...
RE: Coping With That Annoying Dry Socket Pain After Tooth Extraction
That clove oil aftertaste can definitely linger, but honestly, I'd take that over the sharp pain any day. Have you tried gently rinsing with warm salt water? Sometimes it helps cut down the taste a bit. The background ac...
RE: Do Whitening Strips Actually Work for You? Quick Poll
I’ve seen a lot of folks tough it out with the “zing” from whitening strips, just like you described. I get the cost thing - professional whitening can be a real hit to the budget, especially if you’re just after a few s...
RE: Letting go of the binky: When emotional comfort turns into real progress
You’re right, the guidelines are just that - guidelines. I see a lot of parents worry about hitting those “right” ages, but honestly, a few extra months with the pacifier isn’t usually a big deal unless you’re seeing cha...
RE: Making brushing fun: What silly games keep your kids interested?
I hear you on the chaos of race games - my niece once tried to “win” by brushing her cat’s teeth instead. The smart toothbrushes are definitely a game-changer for some kids, though I do wonder about screens in the bathro...
RE: Making the switch: how I use my water flosser (and where I still mess up)
I see this all the time - people come in and tell me their water flosser is basically a bathroom hazard. It’s not just you. Those basic models with one setting can really spray everywhere if you’re not careful. I’ve trie...
RE: Plastic or wire? Something weird I learned about retainers
I’ve seen a lot of people lose retainers just from wrapping them in napkins, so I’d say the case is worth it, even if it’s a hassle. Honestly, I wish more folks would use them - less stress for everyone. But I’m curious,...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
Interesting you mentioned the timer after snacks or juice - waiting 30 minutes before brushing is definitely common advice, but I’ve actually seen some cases where waiting isn’t always necessary, depending on what was ea...
