How soft is too soft for toothbrush bristles?

That lines up with what I’ve noticed, too. The softer bristles do wear out faster—especially if you’re not using a super gentle technique—but it’s worth it for less gum irritation. My hygienist said abrasion from firmer brushes can accelerate gum recession, so I’d rather swap out brushes more often than risk that. It’s a small tradeoff, honestly.
