I swear those office headphones must be designed by someone who’s never actually worn them for more than two minutes. They’re either pinching your ears or slipping off mid-procedure—never just right. I started bringing a weighted eye mask (the kind for naps) and it’s a total game changer. Blocks out the weird ceiling lights and helps me zone out, especially when the drill starts up. As for the hoodie, I’m with you, but I also stash a stress ball in my pocket... squeezing that thing is oddly satisfying when my nerves are shot.

Weighted eye mask is genius, but I’m honestly worried I’d look ridiculous if someone walked in mid-procedure. Is that just me overthinking? The headphones thing drives me nuts too—mine kept sliding off and then I was hyper-aware of every single noise. Last time, I just clung to my phone (on silent) and scrolled through photos to distract myself. Not sure it helped, but at least it gave me something to do with my hands instead of just fidgeting. Stress ball sounds smart… might steal that idea next time.

I get what you mean about feeling silly with the eye mask. Honestly, during my last procedure, I was so focused on getting through it that I stopped caring how I looked. The weighted mask actually helped me zone out a bit.

About the headphones—same issue here. They kept slipping, and then I’d just end up more tense. I’ve found that squeezing a stress ball or even just tapping my fingers under the blanket helps distract me. Sometimes, just having something to do with your hands is enough to take the edge off.

I actually get more anxious if I’m just sitting there with nothing to distract me, so I kind of need the headphones—even if they slip around a bit. The stress ball thing sounds good in theory, but my hands get sweaty when I’m nervous, which just makes me feel more awkward. I know it sounds weird, but sometimes humming quietly under my breath helps? It gives me something to focus on besides the sounds and the waiting.
