"Did your doc mention anything about cold stuff like smoothies or ice cream? Mine recommended that too, but I wasn't sure if it'd be too intense..."
My daughter had a mouth biopsy last year, and our doc actually encouraged smoothies and ice cream right from the get-go. At first, I was skeptical too—thought the cold might be harsh on her sensitive mouth—but honestly, it turned out to be a lifesaver. We started with smoothies because you can control the thickness (thin them out with milk or almond milk if needed) and temperature better than straight-up ice cream. She loved banana-strawberry smoothies, and the cold seemed to numb the area just enough to ease discomfort without being overwhelming. Ice cream was okay too, but we let it soften a bit so it wasn't super hard or freezing cold. Maybe give smoothies a shot first and see how it feels? Every kiddo is different, but for us, the cold stuff definitely helped more than lukewarm tea did. Hope your little one feels better soon... mouth biopsies are no fun at all.
Our office usually recommends cold stuff too, especially smoothies. I've noticed patients who try smoothies first seem to have an easier time—probably because you can tweak the consistency and temperature. Ice cream's fine, but letting it soften a bit definitely helps avoid that initial shock. Funny enough, one patient swore by frozen yogurt popsicles... said they numbed things just right without being too intense. Might be worth a try if smoothies get boring. Hope recovery goes smoothly for your kiddo!

Totally agree about softening ice cream, but honestly, we found warm (not hot!) foods worked better for our daughter after her biopsy. Lukewarm soups or mashed potatoes seemed to soothe her mouth without causing sensitivity. Cold stuff sometimes made her tense up from the chill, even smoothies. Every kid's different though... just thought I'd mention it in case cold isn't working out. Hope your little one feels better soon!

This is spot-on. I was pretty nervous after my biopsy (first-timer here, yay anxiety...), and warm foods were honestly a lifesaver. Ice cream sounded great in theory, but the cold was a bit too intense for me at first. Weirdly enough, room-temp scrambled eggs were my go-to—soft texture, easy to swallow, and didn't trigger any sensitivity. Might be worth trying if you're getting tired of soup and potatoes...
Room-temp scrambled eggs, now that's a new one for me...but hey, if it works! After my biopsy, oatmeal was my jam—warm enough without burning and super gentle. Plus, you can mix in honey or cinnamon to keep things interesting.
