Noticed my gums getting crankier as I get older—anyone else?

Swapping to a softer brush and a toothpaste for sensitive teeth helped me, but I still get nervous about salsa days.

I hear you—spicy food after brushing feels like a dare. I used to think “gentle brushing” was just a marketing thing, but my gums totally disagreed. It’s wild how much technique matters... I’m still figuring out how to not overdo it, especially when I’m rushing in the morning.

Yeah, I thought I was brushing gently until my gums started complaining during braces. Turns out, I was way too aggressive—my ortho actually showed me how to go lighter and use tiny circles. It’s tricky when you’re half awake and late for work though. Has anyone noticed if flossing daily actually helps with the sensitivity, or is it just me?

I totally get what you mean about the brushing—my dentist told me the same thing after I started noticing my gums felt sore and looked a bit red. I switched to one of those soft-bristle brushes from the drugstore (nothing fancy, just whatever was on sale), and honestly, it helped a lot. As for flossing, I used to skip it to save time, but once I started doing it every day, my gums stopped bleeding so much and felt less sensitive over time. It’s not instant, but I noticed a difference after a couple weeks. Still hate how long it takes some mornings, though...

Switching to a soft brush made a big difference for me too—my gums just felt less angry. Flossing’s a pain, but it really does help over time. I still grumble about it some days, but it’s worth it for the comfort.

Yeah, I totally relate. I was really nervous about switching things up, but the soft brush made a big difference for me too. My gums just felt less sore, you know? I still dread flossing—sometimes I skip a day and feel guilty—but when I stick with it, my mouth feels way better. It’s weird how something so small can make such a change.
