Noticed my gums getting crankier as I get older—anyone else?

That blue stuff is no joke—my teeth picked up a weird tint too, and I started worrying about whether it’d cost me more at my next cleaning. I’ve switched to the plainest mouthwash I can find now. And yeah, spicy food just hits different these days... feels like my gums are extra sensitive to everything. Not sure if it’s age or just bad luck, but it’s definitely messing with my grocery budget.

I hear you on the blue mouthwash—those dyes can definitely leave weird stains, and not just on teeth. But I’d actually be a bit cautious about switching to super plain mouthwashes, especially if they’re alcohol-based. Sometimes those can dry out your mouth and make sensitivity worse over time. In my case, I tried natural rinses and even just saltwater for a while, and my gums felt way less irritated. Age does play a role, but sometimes it’s more about the products than we realize...

Totally get what you mean about alcohol-based rinses—my dentist warned me about that too. I tried one for a month and my gums felt raw, honestly. Saltwater rinses felt weird at first but ended up being way gentler for me. It’s wild how much these little changes can matter, especially as we age... you’re definitely not alone in noticing your gums getting fussier.

I swear, my gums have developed a personality of their own lately—cranky is exactly the word. I used to think mouthwash was just mouthwash, but then my dentist side-eyed my old blue bottle and told me to switch to alcohol-free. Made a huge difference. Saltwater’s not glamorous but it works... though I gotta admit, I miss that minty burn sometimes. Anyone else feel like their teeth and gums are just getting more high-maintenance with age?

That minty burn is weirdly satisfying, right? But yeah, I had to make the switch too—my gums started bleeding out of nowhere a couple years back, and my hygienist practically begged me to ditch the alcohol stuff. Swapping over to alcohol-free and adding a gentle brush made a bigger difference than I expected. Honestly, I never imagined I'd have to baby my gums this much... but here we are. Aging teeth really don’t mess around.
