I've used both types too, and honestly, I think the countertop's stronger pressure is a bit overrated. Sure, it's powerful, but I've found that consistency matters way more than sheer force. When I switched to cordless, I actually flossed more often because it was less of a hassle—no cords, no bulky reservoir to clean. My dentist didn't notice any difference either, so maybe effectiveness comes down more to regular use than the device itself...
I've been using the countertop one for a couple years now, and yeah, it definitely blasts away stuff pretty well. But honestly, the hassle of cleaning that big reservoir is getting old fast... Plus, I keep worrying I'll accidentally spray water everywhere (again). I've been thinking about switching to cordless just for convenience sake. Good to hear your dentist didn't notice any difference—I tend to stress about these things more than I probably should. Maybe I'll finally bite the bullet and give cordless a shot. At least then I won't have to wrestle with cords every night...
I've actually had both at different points, and I totally get what you're saying about the countertop version. It does feel like a mini-project just to clean it out sometimes, doesn't it? I switched to cordless about six months ago, mainly because my bathroom counter space is super limited. Honestly, it's been pretty convenient overall. Battery life's decent enough—I only have to charge it maybe once a week or so.
One thing I did notice, though, is that the water pressure feels a tad weaker compared to my old countertop model. Not a huge difference, just something I picked up on after a while. But my orthodontist hasn't said anything negative about my cleaning routine either, so I guess it's doing its job fine.
And yeah, I've definitely sprayed water all over myself (and the mirror) more times than I'd like to admit with both models... Just part of the experience, I guess? Anyway, if convenience and less hassle are your priorities, cordless is probably worth trying out.

Haha same here... cordless user for about a year now, and honestly, the convenience outweighs the slightly weaker pressure. Countertop felt like too much hassle for my tiny bathroom.
