What to do when your braces break on a Sunday
Pizza is definitely a sneaky one - my wire always seemed to bend after eating crust. I’ve tried the wax trick, and it helped a ton, but I remember once the wax just wouldn’t stay put and I was stuck with a sore cheek for a day. Has anyone had luck with those silicone covers instead of regular wax? I never tried them, but I heard they’re less messy.
I actually tried those silicone covers when I had a bracket pop loose on a weekend. Here’s what worked for me: first, I made sure the area was dry (that’s key - saliva makes everything slippery). Then I pressed the silicone over the wire. It definitely stayed put better than wax, especially overnight. The only downside is it felt a bit bulkier, but it kept my cheek from getting torn up. For me, less mess and more comfort outweighed the weird texture.
