Yeah, I’ve actually seen some folks come back years later with weird wear on their teeth from a bite that was just a little off. Nothing crazy, but it can add up—especially if you’re a grinder or clencher. Sometimes it’s just cosmetic, but sometimes it does turn into more headaches... literally.
That’s actually what got me thinking braces aren’t just about the “perfect smile.” I mean, yeah, straight teeth look nice, but if your bite’s off—even a little—doesn’t that mess with more than just looks? My cousin skipped braces as a kid (her teeth looked fine), but by her late 20s she was getting these random jaw aches and headaches. Dentist said her bite was the culprit. She’s now doing Invisalign as an adult, which is way pricier and more annoying to manage with work and travel.
Anyone else notice that sometimes the “cosmetic” stuff ends up being functional down the line? I’m not saying every kid needs braces, but I do wonder if fixing things early saves a lot of hassle (and maybe money) later. Or am I just paranoid because I grind my teeth at night?
