My kid refused yogurt entirely... I was nervous about the “live cultures” too, honestly.

Same here—yogurt was a no-go. Pudding was the only thing my daughter would touch, but I kept worrying it was basically sugar disguised as medicine. She never complained about cold or pain with it, though. The only issue was the occasional rogue sprinkle (rookie mistake on my part). Never thought I'd be so invested in pudding texture...

I can relate to the sprinkle disaster—my son tried to sneak in crushed cookies once and it was a mess. Did anyone else notice if texture made a difference in pain levels? I kept wondering if smooth pudding was really that much better than applesauce.

Crushed cookies sound like a bold move—points for creativity, but ouch. Texture definitely made a big difference for me. Pudding was my go-to… applesauce felt a bit gritty somehow? Maybe it’s just me, but anything ultra-smooth seemed to help a ton with the soreness.

Texture really does make or break it. I tried applesauce too, and honestly, I felt the same—something about it just wasn’t as soothing as I’d hoped. Pudding was a lifesaver for me, but I stuck to the store brand to keep costs down (those little cups add up fast). Mashed potatoes were another win—cheap, filling, and you can thin them out as much as you need. Yogurt was good too, but I avoided anything with fruit chunks since those bits would get stuck and made things worse.

I did try blending soups at home instead of buying the pre-made ones... way more budget-friendly and I could control how smooth they were. It’s wild how much a tiny bit of texture can suddenly feel like sandpaper when your gums are sore. Funny enough, ice cream didn’t help as much as I thought it would—too cold made my mouth ache more.

It’s all trial and error, but going ultra-smooth definitely seemed to be the sweet spot for me too.

Totally get what you mean about texture—one tiny lump and it’s like chewing gravel. I actually tried making my own rice pudding at home, thinking it’d be soft enough, but even that felt weird on my gums unless I blended it to oblivion. Funny thing, I found cold stuff tricky too... everyone kept saying ice cream would be soothing, but it just made everything ache more. Ended up living on homemade mashed sweet potatoes for days—super cheap, and you can season them however you want. Did anyone else try oatmeal? I thought it’d be safe, but nope, those oats were a nightmare for me.
