RE: Keeping old bridges in shape - what actually works?
I totally get that - those water flossers can feel a bit intense, especially around bridges. I tried one because my hygienist swore by it, but honestly, I just ended up spraying water everywhere and feeling like I was ab...
RE: Braces in your 30s: did you know teeth can move for life?
I totally relate to the “maintenance is a whole second job” part. I still have the same retainer from high school (don’t judge, it’s hanging in there), and I swear it’s like a game of hide-and-seek every night. My dentis...
RE: Sealants for Kids: When Did Your Dentist Recommend Them?
Yeah, I’ve noticed that too - sometimes they seem eager to seal right away. We held off with my daughter until her molars were fully in, mostly because I didn’t want to pay for something that might not last or would need...
RE: Getting my words back: finally speaking clearly with new dentures
Totally get where you’re coming from. I actually had to laugh reading this because my first week with dentures, I thought I’d finally figured out the adhesive… then I went out for pho with friends. Halfway through, I cou...
RE: Quick fix for small gaps between teeth
Yeah, veneers always seemed like a big commitment to me too, especially for something as minor as those little gaps. The cost alone is wild, and once you go for veneers, there’s no real going back - your teeth have to be...
RE: What if you show up to your braces consult and forget to ask the important stuff?
I totally hear you - it’s so awkward sometimes, but honestly, you’re not overthinking it. I used to feel super self-conscious about bringing up money at the dentist, like I was being “cheap” or something. But after getti...
RE: Sealants at the Dentist vs. School Clinic: Which Is Better for Your Wallet?
That’s a super fair concern - honestly, I wondered the same thing before I tried the school clinic route. The price is great, but I was a little nervous about what would happen if something didn’t hold up. At the clinic ...
RE: Tackling decay in 13 teeth
Tiny brushes were a bust for me too - felt like I was spending more time picking bristles out of my teeth than actually cleaning them. Water flosser’s been a solid upgrade, especially for the molars. I do think those lit...
RE: Why do kids always seem to chip a tooth at the worst possible moment?
I get what you mean about feeling anxious waiting for the dentist, but honestly, I’ve had decent luck with those temp kits - especially when money’s tight or appointments are weeks out. They’re not perfect, but for a chi...
RE: Moving my jaw around after tightening: does it even help?
That’s so relatable. I did the same thing after my last adjustment - figured if I barely moved my jaw, it’d hurt less and maybe heal faster. But by the next day, it just felt stiff and weird, and chewing anything was a p...
RE: Tackling decay in 13 teeth
That’s been my experience too - seems like some dentists are quick to fill anything that looks questionable, while others take a more “wait and see” approach. I’ve also tried those pricey remineralizing pastes, but hones...
RE: What foods did you give up or swap after getting braces?
Totally with you on the grocery bill - soft foods get expensive fast. I started making big batches of lentil or chickpea salad (just cook them until really soft) and mixing in canned tuna or eggs. It’s super cheap, filli...
RE: Little tricks that helped me recover after gum surgery
Texture really does make or break it. I tried applesauce too, and honestly, I felt the same - something about it just wasn’t as soothing as I’d hoped. Pudding was a lifesaver for me, but I stuck to the store brand to kee...
RE: Custom night guards vs. store-bought: which actually helps your teeth more?
That’s exactly what happened to me too. I tried the cheap “boil and bite” ones, and they always felt bulky or kept slipping out, which honestly made me grind even more out of frustration. The custom one was a stretch for...
