Smoothies were a lifesaver for my son too after his gum surgery. He got bored fast with soups and soft foods, so blending bananas, spinach, and a bit of peanut butter kept him full and happy...and made me feel better knowing he was eating something nutritious.

Did the spinach blend smoothly enough for him right after surgery? I tried something similar when I had my braces tightened and the spinach bits kept getting stuck everywhere...not fun. Peanut butter sounds awesome thoughβ€”wish I'd thought of that. Did you try any other smoothie combos that worked well? I'm having gum surgery next month, so I'm gathering ideas ahead of time.

I completely agree about spinach bits being problematic...they can be surprisingly stubborn. After my own gum surgery, I found avocado and banana smoothies to be particularly soothing and easy to blend smoothly. Highly recommend giving those a try.

I second the avocado-banana combo, it's super gentle and filling. Another one I found helpful was mango and coconut milkβ€”really smooth texture and the coconut milk felt soothing on my gums. I was pretty anxious before my surgery too, but honestly, it wasn't as bad as I'd imagined. Just keep those ice packs handy and stock up on soft foods ahead of time. Also, if you're into peanut butter, blending a spoonful into smoothies adds protein and keeps you feeling full longer. Just make sure it's blended really wellβ€”no chunky bits. Good luck, you've got this!

Totally agree about coconut milk, it really helped me too. Did you find it better chilled or room temp? Cold felt great at first, but after a while, it actually made my gums feel sensitive. Also, curious if anyone tried oatmeal smoothies? I blended oats, almond milk, and a bit of cinnamon...surprisingly tasty and filling, but I'm wondering if oats might irritate healing gums?
