That first week after wisdom teeth removal… did anyone else swear by ice packs?

I actually had the opposite experience with warm compresses—after a few days, switching from ice to gentle heat seemed to help with the aching for me. Maybe it depends on the person? And yeah, those food bits... I swear rice was my nemesis.

I actually stuck with ice packs the whole time because I was so nervous about making anything worse. Heat sounded nice, but I kept worrying it might cause more swelling? Maybe I was just being overly cautious, but the cold felt safer for me. And yeah, rice is impossible to get out—wish someone had warned me about that before I tried eating it.

Totally get where you’re coming from—ice packs just felt safer for me too. I remember being super paranoid about swelling and dry socket, so I basically lived with a cold pack glued to my jaw for days. The thought of using heat made me nervous, even though people kept telling me it could help with stiffness. Guess it’s just one of those things where you do what feels right in the moment.

And the rice thing... yeah, that was a disaster. I tried eating some because I thought it’d be soft enough, but those little grains got stuck everywhere. Took forever to rinse them out and honestly, I wish someone had warned me too. Did you find any foods that were actually easy to eat and didn’t make you want to pull your hair out? I ended up living on mashed potatoes and yogurt for way longer than I expected.

Yeah, the rice thing totally got me too—those little grains are sneaky. I pretty much survived on smoothies and scrambled eggs for a while. Pudding was a lifesaver, honestly. Ice packs just felt like the safest bet; heat sounded risky when everything was still so swollen. Funny how everyone has their own comfort foods for this stuff.

Yeah, I totally get this. I lived with an ice pack basically glued to my face for three days straight... felt like my best friend by the end. I tried to get creative with soft foods too, but rice was a disaster—those grains love hiding in stitches. Yogurt and mashed potatoes worked better for me. Never thought I'd get sick of pudding, but here we are.
