I feel you on the smoothie fatigue—after my wisdom teeth came out, I stocked up on yogurt and applesauce, thinking I'd be set. But by day three, I was craving something savory so badly. Weirdly enough, mashed potatoes became my unexpected hero. Not the fancy kind either—just instant mashed potatoes from a box. They're super cheap, easy to make, and you can tweak the consistency to whatever feels comfortable. Plus, adding a bit of shredded cheese or gravy made it feel like a real meal without breaking the bank. I also experimented with scrambled eggs cooked extra soft, almost custardy. Sounds weird, but it was surprisingly satisfying and gentle on the mouth. Anyway, hang in there—sounds like you're already figuring out some good hacks.

Totally agree, mashed potatoes saved me too. Another thing that helped was oatmeal—made it extra runny with a bit of cinnamon and honey. Cheap, filling, and felt like breakfast instead of dessert all the time...

Mashed potatoes and oatmeal sound great, but honestly, scrambled eggs were my lifesaver. Cooked them super soft and added a bit of cheese... felt comforting and easy to swallow. Good luck—you've got this.

Scrambled eggs were good, but I also found myself leaning heavily on soups—especially creamy ones like tomato bisque or broccoli cheddar. They felt substantial enough to keep me from feeling hungry every hour, but still gentle enough not to irritate anything.

One thing I'm curious about though—did anyone else find temperature mattered a lot? For me, lukewarm or room-temp foods were way easier to handle than anything too hot or cold. Even ice cream felt uncomfortable at first, which surprised me because everyone kept recommending it. Maybe it's just me being overly sensitive, but I ended up microwaving ice cream for a few seconds to soften it up and take the chill off (weird, I know).

Also, did you guys stick strictly to soft foods for the full recommended time? My dentist said at least a week, but by day four or five I was seriously tempted to try something more substantial. Wondering if anyone else pushed the boundaries a bit earlier and how that turned out...

I completely relate on the temperature issue—ice cream sounded great in theory, but it actually hurt a bit at first. I stuck strictly to soft foods for the recommended week though, too nervous about complications. Did anyone else worry about dry sockets as much as I did?
