RE: What to do when your braces break on a Sunday
I totally get the anxiety about unexpected costs - same here. Last year, my bracket came off on a Saturday night after eating pizza (should’ve known better). I debated calling the emergency number but figured, like you s...
RE: How often do your kids actually need to see the dentist?
Totally get where you’re coming from. I’m always torn between “it’s probably nothing” and “what if it’s something serious?” My daughter had a weird white spot on her gum once - didn’t hurt, no swelling, but I freaked out...
RE: Which Toothbrush Actually Makes a Difference?
I had the same issue with bleeding gums and honestly thought it was just my fate for years. I was skeptical about dropping cash on an electric brush, but I found a basic model on sale and figured, why not? I don’t have t...
RE: When your favorite water bottle starts to smell funky
I’ve gone back and forth on those cleaning tablets. Tried a sample pack a while ago when I picked up a used Hydro Flask, mostly because the previous owner must’ve been mixing protein shakes in it or something (the smell ...
RE: What Actually Happens During a Full House Deep Clean?
This hit home for me, especially after my last deep cleaning. I shelled out a chunk of change (no insurance, so every dollar stings), and honestly, I expected my teeth to look like a toothpaste commercial after. Instead,...
RE: Saw a story about sinus lifts getting more common - anyone else nervous?
Yeah, the cost part freaked me out almost as much as the idea of someone poking around near my sinuses. I spent a while comparing quotes and insurance coverage - turns out, there’s not really a “budget” version if you wa...
RE: Would you freak out if your stitches took longer to dissolve?
I actually had the opposite experience - chewier foods didn’t really make things worse for me, but anything crunchy was a nightmare. I tried to stick with stuff like mashed potatoes and yogurt since I was worried about c...
RE: Ever notice how veneers were invented by a Hollywood dentist?
Insurance logic is wild. I chipped a tooth eating popcorn (not even the kernel, just a weird angle), and my plan called it “wear and tear.” But if I’d tripped on the sidewalk, they’d have covered half the city block to f...
RE: How I prepped for dental implant sedation and what actually worked
I tried the same kind of thing before my implant surgery - those rain sounds and “sleep stories” with people describing rivers or forests. I kept thinking, “Is this really doing anything?” but honestly, after a few night...
RE: Making brushing fun: What silly games keep your kids interested?
That made me laugh - pretty much sums up my approach. My daughter went through a phase where she’d only brush if I pretended to be “the Tooth Troll” and tried to steal her toothbrush. It worked for about two weeks, then ...
RE: Custom night guards vs. store-bought: which actually helps your teeth more?
I hear you on the insurance thing - it’s wild how little they actually help with stuff like this. I had the same debate with myself for months. The cheap guards from the drugstore seemed like a good deal at first, but ho...
RE: Chewing Gum That Actually Works For Gross Breath?
I get that - my dentist is always pushing xylitol, but honestly, those packs are pricey. I’ve had better luck with the water swish too, especially after coffee. Ever tried those little floss picks in the car? They’re a l...
RE: Dealing with those sneaky in-between tooth cavities
I totally get the plastic guilt, but honestly, I tried switching to those reusable silicone picks and just couldn’t get them between my wires without poking my gums. Ended up with sore spots and barely any cleaner teeth....
RE: Keeping Teeth Clean Without Breaking the Bank: My Cheap Floss Routine
Yeah, I tried a water flosser too and it just made a mess - felt like I needed goggles. The cheap floss from the dollar store honestly works fine for me, even if it’s not glamorous. I just stash some in the living room s...
