Totally agree about charcoal toothpaste—felt gritty and weird to me too. Oil pulling was interesting though... I stuck with it about a month, and while whitening was minimal, my gums actually felt healthier. Wonder if anyone else noticed gum benefits rather than whitening?

Interesting you mention the gum benefits—I noticed something similar when I tried oil pulling a while back. Whitening was pretty much nonexistent for me, but my gums definitely felt less sensitive and seemed healthier overall. I was skeptical at first, thinking it might just be placebo or something, but after a few weeks, I genuinely felt a difference. Did you notice any changes in sensitivity too, or was it mostly just healthier gums?

I also agree about charcoal toothpaste being gritty and weird. Honestly, I couldn't stick with it more than a few days because the texture was just too off-putting. Plus, I kept worrying about whether it was abrasive enough to damage enamel over time. Has anyone else heard anything about that? I've seen mixed opinions online, so I'm still not totally sure.

As for professional whitening, I had it done once at my dentist's office. The results were noticeable right away, but my teeth felt super sensitive afterward—like sharp pains whenever I drank something cold. Thankfully, that faded after a couple days, but it made me hesitant to do it again. Curious if anyone else experienced sensitivity after professional whitening treatments or if it was just me being unlucky.

Anyway, glad to hear oil pulling worked out for your gums at least. Maybe it's worth revisiting for me...

I had the exact same thing happen after my whitening session, thought it was just me being overly sensitive or something. Glad to hear it eased up for you too after a couple days...makes me feel less anxious about trying again sometime.

Same here, sensitivity was pretty intense for about 48 hours. Dentist mentioned it's common due to enamel pores opening temporarily. Using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth beforehand helped me a bit, might be worth trying next time.

Had the same issue myself, sensitivity was pretty rough for a day or two. My dentist explained it similarly—something about the enamel pores opening up temporarily. I tried switching to a sensitive toothpaste about a week before my next session, and it actually made a noticeable difference. Still felt some discomfort, but nowhere near as intense as the first time. Did your dentist suggest anything specific to help ease the sensitivity afterward? Mine recommended avoiding super hot or cold drinks for a couple days, which seemed to help a bit too. Anyway, glad to hear it eased up for you eventually...it's reassuring to know it's not just me being overly sensitive!
