How often do you actually swap out your retainer?

Curious if anyone’s dentist actually gave them a set timeline for replacement? Mine was just like, “When it gets gross.” Super helpful, right?

That’s basically what mine said too—just swap it when it starts looking sketchy. Honestly, I’ve kept mine way longer than I probably should’ve. The price is no joke, and as long as it isn’t cracked or super cloudy, I just keep scrubbing with a toothbrush and those tablets. They’re decent, but you’re right, not a miracle fix.

Anyone else notice the white spots seem worse if you use mouthwash with alcohol? I swear mine got gnarlier after I tried that trick. Wonder if that’s just me or if it actually messes with the plastic. How strict are you all about daily cleaning? Sometimes I’ll admit I just do a quick rinse and toss it in the case... probably not ideal, but life gets busy.
