Retainer glued in or popping one in and out?

That’s exactly how I felt with my fixed retainer—so much stress about cleaning it right, and honestly, sometimes I just skipped flossing because it was too much. Removable sounds scary for losing it, but being able to brush properly must feel like such a relief. Your experience gives me a bit of hope that switching isn’t as terrifying as it seems.

I totally get the “skipped flossing” part—been there, done that. Fixed retainers are just... a pain for cleaning. I always felt like I was missing spots no matter how hard I tried. Removable ones freak me out for the same reason, though:

—I’m so forgetful, I’d probably misplace it in a week. But honestly, being able to brush and floss normally sounds worth it? Maybe setting up a routine would help with not losing it. Anyone else have tips for that?

I hear you on the fixed retainer cleaning struggle—threaders and tiny brushes just get old fast. I switched to a removable one and yeah, I was paranoid about losing it at first. What helped me was always putting it in the same little case right after meals, no exceptions. It’s become automatic now. And honestly, being able to floss normally again is such a relief... I don’t miss those awkward angles and feeling like I was never quite getting things clean. If you’re forgetful, maybe keeping the case in your bag or by your toothbrush helps? Worked for me, at least.
