I totally get what you mean about the anxiety with every bite. It’s weird how something as basic as eating can suddenly feel like a risk, right? I was in that same boat after my root canal—kept second guessing every crunch and chew. For me, it wasn’t even just pain, but this constant worry in the back of my mind that I’d crack the tooth or make things worse. I put off the crown for a bit because I thought maybe I could get by, but honestly, the mental load was a lot.

Once I finally got the crown, it was such a relief. Not just physically, but mentally too. I could eat without thinking about it, which I didn’t realize was such a big deal until the stress was gone. The process itself was way less dramatic than I’d built it up to be, and I kind of wish I hadn’t waited so long.

That said, I know some people are fine for a while without a crown, especially if it’s a tooth that doesn’t get much action. But for me, the peace of mind was worth it. The cost stung a bit, but not as much as the idea of having to do another root canal or, worse, lose the tooth altogether.

It’s not being paranoid—teeth stuff is just stressful, period. If you’re losing sleep or tense at every meal, I’d say your instincts are probably onto something. At least for me, getting the crown felt like one less thing to worry about, and that was a win.
