My patients usually lean toward sitcoms or reality TV—something easygoing and funny. I've had a few ask me to recap episodes of The Office or Friends, which honestly makes the appointment fly by for both of us. True crime though...yikes, that'd stress me out more than the patient, haha. But hey, whatever keeps them relaxed and comfortable is fine by me. Glad you found something that works!

Haha, gotta admit, I'm one of those weirdos who actually finds true crime oddly relaxing at the dentist. Something about getting wrapped up in a mystery distracts me from what's happening in my mouth. But I can totally see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea—especially the dentist's!

Personally, I think having something engaging to listen to or talk about makes dental checkups way less intimidating. Last time I went, my dentist and I ended up chatting about baking shows (of all things!) because he mentioned he liked watching them with his kids. It turned into a whole debate about cake decorating techniques and honestly made the appointment fly by.

Curious if anyone else has found that certain genres or topics help ease dental anxiety better than others? Maybe comedy is universally safe—but hey, don't knock true crime till you've tried it...

I mean, true crime at the dentist sounds like nightmare fuel to me, haha. I usually ask for something super chill like nature documentaries or travel podcasts—basically anything calm enough to drown out the scary drill noises without adding extra stress...
