RE: When Bleeding Gums Start Talking: A Dental Drama
Honestly, I’ve always thought the whole “toughen up” thing is overrated when it comes to gums. Every time I tried to just power through with a higher setting, I ended up regretting it - my mouth would feel like it went t...
RE: EATING SOUP FOR WEEKS: HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO CHEW NORMAL FOOD AGAIN?
I totally get where you’re coming from about pushing yourself a little. For me, the mental block was almost tougher than the soreness - I’d psych myself out over every bite. But you’re right, those little wins (like gett...
RE: Would you get that protective coating for your kid’s molars?
Totally get the “insurance for lazy brushers” bit - my son’s molars are like little canyons too, and even with him being a decent brusher, I just don’t trust those deep grooves. We did sealants a few years ago and honest...
RE: When your favorite water bottle starts to smell funky
Totally get what you mean about the plastic bottles. I swear, no matter how hard I scrubbed, there was always some weird aftertaste - especially with aligners. It’s like the grooves just hold on to that funk for dear lif...
RE: How I pack and care for my retainer when traveling - step by step
I totally get the bottled water thing - my dentist would probably faint if I told him I rinsed my retainer with tap water in some places. The UV pen sounds wild, but hey, if it keeps the funk away, why not? I’m all about...
RE: Getting my 4-year-old to stop sucking her thumb... help?
Totally get where you're coming from. My daughter was the exact same - she could get out of any thumb guard, mitten, or even those weird tasting polishes. Drove me nuts for a while. But honestly, our dentist reassured us...
RE: Pain relief that actually works for dry socket?
You’re not kidding about the clove oil taste - it’s like chewing on a Christmas candle, honestly. I had a dry socket after my own wisdom teeth came out, and I’d take ibuprofen and saltwater rinses over another round of t...
RE: What’s your go-to after jaw surgery: wax, salt water, or just toughing it out?
Wax always seemed like a good idea at first, but yeah, I’d get that raw feeling on my cheeks too after a couple days. It’s weirdly common, I think - maybe something about the friction or just the way it sits against your...
RE: How much is too much when it comes to fluoride rinse?
I totally get the paranoia, honestly. I used to be super strict about measuring out my rinse, too - like, if I went a drop over the line, I’d rinse out my mouth twice just in case. My dentist told me those white spots (f...
RE: How I pack and care for my retainer when traveling - step by step
You're definitely not alone - my retainer gets that weird smell too, especially after flights. I’ve found mouthwash just masks it, like you said, and sometimes makes it worse. The cleaning tablets are a lifesaver for me ...
RE: Tackling decay in 13 teeth
Honestly, I’ve noticed that too, but I kinda think the chalky feeling is a good sign - it means the fluoride’s sticking around and doing its job. I’d rather have that than sensitivity or those weird translucent spots. I ...
RE: Switching to floss picks totally changed my nightly routine
Couldn’t agree more with this. I’ve tried to stick with the classic string floss, but my fingers would always end up sore and I’d get so frustrated. Floss picks actually made me stop dreading the whole process - now I do...
RE: How Does Smoking Change Your Smile?
Yeah, the paranoia about breath really sticks around, doesn’t it? Even after quitting, I kept mints in every pocket for months. I totally get what you mean about the electric toothbrush - made a night-and-day difference ...
RE: Custom night guards vs. store-bought: which actually helps your teeth more?
I totally get where you’re coming from - the price tag on those custom guards is no joke. I did the store-bought route for a while too, and honestly, it was “good enough” at first. But after a few months, mine started to...
