I totally get the frustration with the jaw clicks. My dentist basically shrugged and said as long as it’s not hurting or locking, it’s just something to monitor. The night guard helped my soreness too, but the clicking never stopped. I asked about fixing it, and they mentioned stuff like physical therapy or seeing a specialist, but insurance was a nightmare and honestly, it sounded pricey. Haven’t found a “secret trick” yet—if there is one, it’s well hidden. For now, I just try to avoid super chewy food and stress... not exactly cutting-edge advice, but hey, it’s free.

That’s kind of what my dentist said too—unless it’s locking or super painful, just keep an eye on it. But I always wonder, is there any actual harm in the clicking itself? Like, could it get worse over time if I ignore it? Or is it just annoying and harmless? Insurance stuff makes me want to scream...

I get what your dentist said, but honestly, I wish I'd pushed for more info when mine first started clicking. Mine didn't hurt at first either, but after a year or so, it got worse and then I ended up needing a night guard. Insurance barely covered it, which was so frustrating. If you're worried, you might want to mention it again—just in case it’s not as harmless as they say. Sometimes "wait and see" ends up costing more...

That’s a really good point about “wait and see” sometimes backfiring. I’ve had jaw clicking for a while, and my dentist always said it was “common” and not to stress unless it hurt. But then I started waking up with headaches, and suddenly it was all about splints and physical therapy—none of which my insurance wanted to pay for. Honestly, I wish I’d pushed for more details from the start, like what to watch for or ways to prevent it getting worse. It’s wild how something that seems minor can turn into a big deal if you’re not careful.

Jaw clicking always seemed harmless to me too, until my dentist mentioned it could be linked to clenching or grinding. Did they ever talk to you about checking for wear on your teeth or maybe trying a night guard early on?
