Totally agree with this. My daughter had to get two teeth pulled last summer, and I was really anxious about sedation options. We ended up going with laughing gas because it felt less invasive and the dentist assured us it was enough for her situation. Thankfully, she did fine, but I can definitely see how IV sedation would be the better choice if things were more complicated or impacted... Every situation's different, and it's good you trusted your dentist's judgment. Glad it worked out okay for you!

Glad your daughter had a smooth experience! But honestly, I think people sometimes underestimate laughing gas even for trickier extractions. I've had impacted wisdom teeth pulled with just nitrous, and it was totally manageableβ€”plus no groggy hangover afterward like IV sedation tends to give. Everyone's mileage varies, obviously, but personally I'd always lean toward the lighter stuff first... less hassle overall.

I hear you on preferring the lighter sedation route. I had IV sedation once and honestly, waking up feeling groggy and out of it was no fun. But with laughing gas, I was clear-headed in no time and could drive myself home after about 20 minutes or so. Curious though, has anyone found nitrous not quite strong enough for deeper extractions or complicated procedures? Always wondered where people draw the line...

I went with nitrous for a pretty deep extraction to save some cash, and honestly, it was fine. Felt pressure but no real pain. If you're budget-conscious like me, I'd say laughing gas is usually enough unless you're really anxious or it's super complicated...

Good to hear it worked out okay for you. Quick question thoughβ€”did the nitrous help much with anxiety, or was it mostly just pain relief? I've got an extraction coming up, and I'm pretty chill about dental stuff, but still wondering if laughing gas is enough to keep nerves at bay. IV sedation seems like overkill (and pricey) unless you're really nervous or it's complicated. Glad you shared your experience, makes me lean towards nitrous...
