RE: That Awkward Moment In The Waiting Room: First Braces Appointment
Haha, I remember that phase. I used to carry those little wax packs everywhere, like they were some kind of survival kit. The inside of my cheeks felt like sandpaper for at least a week. Crunchy food was the hardest thin...
RE: Struggling to keep cavities away - what’s actually working for you?
Cutting back on snacks definitely made a dent for me too, especially late-night ones. I used to be all about mouthwash - like, if it tingled, it had to be working, right? But honestly, I agree... it’s mostly just good fo...
RE: Keeping old bridges in shape - what actually works?
That’s pretty much my experience too - those little brushes (I use TePe ones) made a big difference once I got the hang of them. At first, I was like, “there’s no way I’m poking that under my bridge,” but now it’s just p...
RE: How much did your dental implant + extraction actually cost?
Honestly, I get where you’re coming from about the paperwork headaches, but I’ve actually had a pretty different experience with insurance. Maybe it’s just my plan (or dumb luck), but when I got my implant last year, my ...
RE: Which whitening toothpaste actually works for you?
I totally get the lighting struggle - my teeth look totally different under my bathroom lights vs. when I catch a glimpse in my car mirror. But honestly, I’ve never had much luck with Sensodyne True White. It felt gentle...
RE: Toothpaste aisle overwhelm: how I pick what actually works
The toothpaste aisle really does feel like a marketing circus sometimes. I get what you mean about the charcoal stuff - tried it once because it looked “cool” and, yeah, total mess. Didn’t notice any brighter teeth eithe...
RE: Tackling decay in 13 teeth
Funny, I actually had a bit of luck with those whitening pens, but yeah, strips never did much for my fillings either. I think you’re right about it being more than just coffee and tea - blueberries totally wrecked my fr...
RE: The great dental quest: searching for planet-friendly floss
I’ve been down this rabbit hole too. Silk floss was a letdown for me - the snapping is real, and it kind of defeats the point if you have to double up mid-floss. I tried that corn-based one with candelilla wax, and it’s ...
RE: Do Whitening Strips Actually Work for You? Quick Poll
Strips definitely work for some people, but I totally get where you’re coming from with the sensitivity and weird gum feelings. The first time I tried them, I thought I was just being a baby about it, but my gums got all...
RE: Which is rougher: getting a crown or recovering from a root canal?
Yeah, the jaw ache is real. I always feel like my face has been at the gym after those longer appointments. For me, the crown process was actually rougher than the root canal, mostly because of all the impressions and th...
RE: The night before surgery: a choose-your-own-cleanliness adventure
I totally get the urge to scrub like you’re trying to erase last year’s coffee stains. I used to think if my gums weren’t a little sore after brushing, I wasn’t doing it right. Turns out, my gums disagreed - ended up wit...
RE: Getting used to new dentures: slow and steady or all at once?
Yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from. The lower denture is always the troublemaker for me too - never fails, a few days in and I’m chasing down sore spots. I tried to just “deal with it” once, thinking it’d tough...
RE: Making brushing fun for little ones - what actually works?
Stories and songs totally saved us during the toddler years, but I gotta admit, I caved and tried one of those musical toothbrushes too. It was a hit for about a week, then back to stickers and silly voices. Has anyone f...
RE: How often do you actually see your dentist?
I totally get that worry - once you’ve had a bad cavity, it’s hard to relax about checkups. I used to be pretty obsessive too, especially when I had braces. My dentist said twice a year is fine, but honestly, if going mo...
