I used to be super self-conscious about my teeth, especially in pictures. You know that awkward closed-mouth smile thing? Yeah, that was me every single time. Anyway, finally decided to do something about it and went through a whole dental makeover thing—veneers, whitening, the works. Honestly, best decision ever. Feels weirdly freeing to just smile naturally without worrying how it looks. Curious if anyone else here has had a similar experience or thought about doing something like this?

That's awesome you went for it—I totally get the awkward closed-mouth smile struggle, been there myself. I've been seriously considering veneers for a while now, but I'm still on the fence. Did you find the whole process uncomfortable or was it pretty manageable? I've heard mixed things about sensitivity afterward, so that's kinda holding me back. But hearing how freeing it feels for you definitely nudges me closer to booking that consultation...

Totally get where you're coming from with the sensitivity worries—I was exactly the same before my veneers. Honestly, the process itself wasn't too bad. The dentist numbed everything up pretty well, so I didn't feel much during the procedure. The worst part for me was just sitting still for so long (I'm a bit fidgety, lol).

Afterward, I did have some mild sensitivity for about a week or two, especially with cold drinks and ice cream. But it wasn't anything unbearable—more like a temporary annoyance. My dentist recommended a sensitive toothpaste, and that helped a lot. Now, a few months later, I barely notice any sensitivity at all.

I totally relate to the awkward closed-mouth smile thing too... spent years avoiding photos or doing that weird half-smile. Honestly, getting veneers has been such a relief. It's crazy how much more relaxed I feel now when someone pulls out their phone for a quick pic.

If you're leaning toward it, I'd say at least go for the consultation. It really helped ease my anxiety just talking through everything with the dentist beforehand. Good luck deciding—I know it's nerve-wracking, but it could be totally worth it in the end.

I was worried about sensitivity too, but honestly it wasn't as bad as I expected. Just had some mild discomfort with cold stuff for a week or so... nothing major. Like you said:

"My dentist recommended a sensitive toothpaste, and that helped a lot."

That made a huge difference for me too.

My daughter had veneers done last year after years of braces and still not feeling great about her smile. She was nervous about sensitivity too, but like others mentioned, the sensitive toothpaste really helped ease things. Honestly, seeing her finally smiling openly in family photos again made it all worth it. It's amazing how much confidence a simple smile can bring back into someone's life... glad you had a similar positive experience.
