That popcorn ban is brutal, right? I always tell folks: salt water’s like chicken soup for the mouth—doesn’t cure everything, but sure feels comforting. Did anyone else get mixed advice about using a straw? Some say it’s a no-go for days, others seem less strict.

I remember getting my wisdom tooth out last year and being told pretty firmly to avoid straws for at least 72 hours. The concern is the negative pressure—it can disrupt the blood clot and lead to dry socket, which is honestly miserable. I know some folks say it’s fine after a day or two, but for me, erring on the side of caution made recovery smoother. That popcorn ban, though... definitely the hardest part, especially since I didn’t realize just how much I snacked until I couldn’t.

Yeah, my orthodontist said the same thing—no straws for a few days at least. I was super paranoid about dry socket too. Did you find eating soft foods got boring fast? I was craving chips by day two...

Honestly, I’m still a little freaked out about biting into anything crunchy even weeks later. The paranoia about dry socket just kind of stuck with me. I know people say you can get back to normal pretty quick, but I kept to mashed potatoes and yogurt way longer than my dentist suggested. Maybe I went overboard, but the idea of “miserable” pain was enough to keep me away from chips for way too long.
