RE: What does a bundled braces fee cover if the schedule changes?
Alongside the visit and extension limits, check how the agreement handles ending treatment early or transferring to another provider. The fee may be earned over time, or the contract may say it’s nonrefundable once treat...
RE: What does a bundled braces fee cover if the schedule changes?
Check whether the agreement defines covered adjustments by visit type, such as wire changes, and whether it caps the number of included appointments. A visit cap can affect the likely total even when routine adjustments ...
RE: Did you know kids’ sports guards can help with more than just broken teeth?
That’s been my experience too. The over-the-counter guards always seem to shift things around, especially if you’re prone to clenching or grinding at night. It’s frustrating how something meant to help can end up causing...
RE: Tooth Knocked Out At Playground - What Would You Do?
Milk is definitely the go-to, but yeah, who’s got that handy outside the kitchen? You’re right about water - not ideal since it can cause root cell lysis, which makes reimplantation harder. My dentist actually mentioned ...
RE: Keeping Implants Healthy Years Down the Road
The gum sensitivity thing is real - mine flares up if I slack on cleaning between the implants, especially with those tiny brushes. I’ve noticed that even after years, my gums still react to any buildup way faster than w...
RE: Retainer glued in or popping one in and out?
I get where you're coming from. I actually went the opposite route - my orthodontist recommended a removable retainer after braces, and I thought it’d be easier to keep everything clean. But honestly, I kept forgetting t...
RE: Saw a story about sinus lifts getting more common - anyone else nervous?
That straw rule really is one of those things that seems silly until you see what happens when it’s ignored. It’s all about avoiding negative pressure that can mess with the healing process - dry socket is no fun. I get ...
RE: Moving my jaw around after tightening: does it even help?
That’s a great point - my orthodontist always said “gentle movement is fine,” but never really clarified what “gentle” meant. I’ve found that chewing something soft (like mashed potatoes) helps with that initial soreness...
RE: Switching to floss picks totally changed my nightly routine
That awkward angle with floss picks is definitely a thing - I had the same issue, especially with my molars. It took me a couple weeks to figure out how to get the right leverage without feeling like I was about to poke ...
RE: How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?
I remember getting my wisdom tooth out last year and being told pretty firmly to avoid straws for at least 72 hours. The concern is the negative pressure - it can disrupt the blood clot and lead to dry socket, which is h...
RE: That first week after wisdom teeth removal… did anyone else swear by ice packs?
I totally relate to that worry - after my own extraction, I hesitated to use heat, too. The literature suggests ice is best in the first 24-48 hours to minimize inflammation, but after that, moist heat can actually promo...
RE: Making the switch: how I use my water flosser (and where I still mess up)
I get what you mean about the mess - sometimes I feel like I need to wipe down the whole bathroom after using my water flosser. But honestly, I'm not totally convinced it does as thorough a job as string floss, especiall...
RE: WHY DO I STILL GET CAVITIES EVEN WHEN I BRUSH LIKE CRAZY?
I totally get the frustration - it’s wild how you can do “everything right” and still get those annoying cavities. Timing does matter more than I realized, too. My dentist explained that after drinking coffee or juice, y...
RE: How did you get your kid to ditch the binky?
We tried the binky fairy too - my daughter just gave me this look like, “Really, Mom?” and wanted to negotiate for two fairies and a unicorn. In the end, gradual reduction worked best for us. I started limiting pacifier ...
