Hypothetically, if you tried extracting some herbal stuff at home—like oils or tinctures—and it went kinda wrong (maybe too strong or weird smell or something), how would you fix it?

I've had something similar happen with lavender oil—at first it smelled like grandma's perfume cabinet exploded, way too intense. I almost tossed it, but forgot about it in a drawer. Found it months later and it was actually pretty nice, mellowed out a lot. Seems like patience is key... or maybe just forgetfulness, haha.

I've noticed something similar with homemade herbal mouth rinses. At first, the taste was way too strong—almost medicinal—and I nearly gave up on it. But after letting it sit for a few weeks, it mellowed out nicely and became quite pleasant. Seems like giving these things a bit of time can really help balance them out. Your lavender oil experience sounds reassuringly familiar... patience (or forgetfulness!) definitely pays off sometimes.

I've had a similar experience with a homemade chamomile tincture I tried making last summer. At first, the smell was so intense—like, aggressively floral and kind of bitter—that I was convinced I'd messed something up badly. Honestly, I almost tossed it out because it made me anxious just thinking about using it. But since I'd already spent money on the ingredients (and I'm stubbornly budget-conscious), I decided to stash it away in a cupboard and just forget about it for a bit.

Fast forward about a month or two later, I stumbled across the bottle again while looking for something else entirely. Curiosity got the better of me, so I cautiously opened it up and gave it another sniff. Surprisingly, the harshness had really mellowed out. It still smelled herbal, but now in a gentle, calming way—exactly what I'd hoped for originally.

So yeah, patience (or accidental forgetfulness) can definitely be your friend here... Glad to know it's not just me who finds these homemade concoctions need some extra time to settle down!

Haha, your story reminds me of my first attempt at making lavender oil for my kiddo's bedtime routine. I was aiming for that gentle, relaxing scent you see in store-bought stuff, but what I ended up with was... aggressively lavender-y? Like grandma's perfume dialed up to eleven. I seriously thought I ruined it and almost gave up.

But yeah, same here—I shoved it in the back of a drawer, mostly out of frustration, and found it a few weeks later. Surprisingly, it had mellowed out a lot. Still strong, but way less overwhelming. I've noticed that homemade herbal stuff often needs some "alone time" to chill out. Maybe the herbs just need their space, haha.

Anyway, glad your tincture turned out alright in the end! Seems like patience (or accidental neglect) is definitely key.

Yeah, I've had similar experiences. Usually, diluting it with a neutral carrier oil helps tone things down faster—especially if you're anxious about using something too strong on kids (I always am). Time definitely helps mellow it out, but if you're impatient or worried like me, dilution is a safer bet. Glad yours worked out eventually though... trial and error, right?
