My oral surgeon mentioned that a soft-bristled brush is usually fine after the first 24 hours, as long as you’re careful and avoid direct contact with the stitches. But honestly, I waited a little longer because I just couldn’t shake the image of messing something up.

Totally get that—waiting a bit extra before brushing near the stitches seems smart to me. I was super cautious too, maybe even a little over the top, but better safe than sorry, right? The weird taste thing definitely threw me off for a few days. Turns out it was just part of healing, though I kept worrying I’d missed some food back there. Honestly, you’re doing great if you’re already this mindful.

That taste stuck with me too—thought I was doing something wrong, but apparently it’s just the body healing. I was paranoid about food getting stuck, so I used a saltwater rinse after meals for a week. Did you try rinsing, or just stick to careful brushing? Curious if anyone felt like the saltwater made a big difference, or if it was more peace of mind than anything else.
