Temperature definitely mattered for my son too, but I'd say texture was the bigger issue overall. He actually preferred colder foods—said they numbed the soreness a bit. Lukewarm stuff didn't seem to help him much, and room-temp smoothies were a no-go (he thought they tasted weird). Every kid's different, I guess...we ended up sticking mostly to cool yogurts and applesauce until things healed up more. Took about a week before he could handle warmer meals comfortably again.

Funny, cold stuff made mine ache worse. Anyone else find ice cream overrated after wisdom teeth removal? I survived mostly on lukewarm mashed potatoes...maybe I'm just weird?

My son had his out last month and ice cream definitely wasn't the miracle food everyone promised. He said it made him feel worse, something about the cold hitting sensitive nerves. Lukewarm soups and mashed potatoes were lifesavers here too. How long did it take before you could eat regular food comfortably? We're a week in and I'm still cutting everything into tiny pieces for him...feels like forever.

My daughter had hers done about six months ago, and ice cream was a definite no-go here too. She complained that it made her teeth ache even worse. Took about 10 days before she felt comfortable eating anything remotely solid...hang in there, it gets better soon!

Reading this thread is honestly reassuring...I had mine taken out just three days ago, and I genuinely thought I'd be back to normal eating by now. Big nope on that front. I've been surviving on lukewarm broth, yogurt (but only if it's room temp), and applesauce. Ice cream seemed like a great idea at first, but same as your daughter—it just made my teeth ache horribly. I'm trying not to stress too much about it since everyone says it gets better after a week or so, but the anxiety of biting into anything solid again is real. At least it's comforting knowing I'm not alone in this mashed potato club...guess I'll stock up on more soup and patience for now.
