Swapped out my usual toothpaste for a “sensitive” one after some gum pain, but honestly, not sure if it’s helping or just in my head. Anyone else notice actual changes when they switch brands or types? Or is it mostly marketing hype?

I get what you mean. I switched to a sensitive toothpaste last winter when my gums started acting up—felt like they were tingling every time I had something cold. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was actually working or if I just wanted it to. Maybe a bit of both? I kept checking in the mirror, half-expecting to see some miracle improvement.
After a few weeks, though, I did notice less of that sharp, zappy feeling from cold drinks. But I still get anxious every time I try a new brand—sometimes I worry it’ll make things worse or cause a weird reaction. My dentist said some of the sensitive ones have ingredients that block pain signals, but it’s not instant. Marketing probably plays a part, but I guess for me, it did help... eventually.
I still get nervous about changing anything in my routine, to be honest. Toothpaste seems like such a small thing, but when your gums hurt, it feels huge.
