RE: Think my implant might be acting up...anyone else had this?
A water flosser can be useful around an implant, but it isn't automatically better than properly used interdental brushes or implant-safe floss. The right option depends on the spacing and the dentist or hygienist's reco...
RE: Daily mouthwash vs. regular dental checkups for keeping your mouth healthy?
Totally get what you mean - mouthwash is nice, but it’s never saved me from a bad checkup. I’ve tried all sorts, and still, nothing beats that clean feeling after a pro cleaning. Flossing’s the real MVP, but mouthwash do...
RE: Keeping old bridges in shape - what actually works?
That shiny gumline thing gets me too - sometimes I catch it in certain light and start spiraling about whether my bridge is falling apart or if I’m just getting older. Toothbrush abrasion is real though, and I learned th...
RE: Swollen gums and braces: is this normal or just me?
Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing with certain foods. My gums would puff up way more after eating crunchy snacks than after my ortho appointments. I think you’re right - it’s probably a combo of the braces making things ...
RE: Keeping old bridges in shape - what actually works?
Totally get where you’re coming from - Superfloss is awkward at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a lifesaver under bridges. I tried a water flosser too, and while it felt nice and quick, I still found bits st...
RE: Would You Go for a Brighter Smile with Lasers or Stick to DIY Kits?
I totally relate to the “slow and steady” route. I’ve done the blue light kits and strips in the past, but never saw much difference - plus, my teeth got super sensitive. Honestly, just sticking to regular cleanings and ...
RE: Choosing the right root canal doc - what mattered most for you?
I get that wanting someone who talks you through it helps with the nerves, but honestly, I’m kinda the opposite. I’ve had a few root canals and sometimes all the chatter just made me more anxious - like, I’d start overth...
RE: Saw a story about sinus lifts getting more common - anyone else nervous?
Sticker shock is the perfect way to describe it. I remember sitting in the chair, hearing the estimate, and thinking there’s no way insurance could leave me with that much out of pocket. I went through something similar ...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
Funny how the basics just work sometimes, right? I swore by saltwater rinses, especially after adjustments. My orthodontist kept pushing fancy gels but nothing beat that old-school remedy for me. I also tried sucking on ...
RE: Saw a story about sinus lifts getting more common - anyone else nervous?
That’s honestly one of the weirdest parts - being hyper-aware of every tiny sound or twitch in your face. I remember waking up in a panic thinking I’d sneezed and ruined everything, but my surgeon told me it’s not really...
RE: How did you get your kid to ditch the binky?
That’s interesting, we did the “binky fairy” with our oldest and honestly, I was surprised by how much it helped her let go of the pacifier. I totally get being tempted to give in during those tough nights - sleep depriv...
RE: Root Canal Nerves: Did Anyone Else Actually Feel Relieved Afterward?
I totally get what you mean about the relief. I had a root canal last year and honestly, the anticipation was way worse than the actual procedure. The numbing took ages for me too - I thought maybe it wasn’t working at f...
RE: Making the switch: how I use my water flosser (and where I still mess up)
I totally get the thing about the bathroom counter - it's like a rite of passage for water flosser newbies. My first week, I managed to spray the mirror and even got some on the floor... not my proudest moment. And yeah,...
RE: If Your Braces Hurt Like Crazy At Night, What’s Your Go-To Fix?
I totally get the “ice pack and grumbling” routine - been there way too many times. For me, popsicles are a lifesaver (bonus points if you can justify it as “medicine”). I’ve also found that gently massaging my jaw muscl...
RE: Making brushing fun for little ones - what actually works?
Letting kids take the lead really does make a difference. My daughter went through a phase where she’d only brush if she could “help” me first - sometimes she just poked around, but it got her interested. And yeah, those...
