RE: Swollen gums and braces: is this normal or just me?
I’m in the same boat right now and honestly, it’s stressing me out more than I expected. My gums puffed up after my first wire change and I thought maybe I was brushing wrong or missing spots, but even after switching to...
RE: Which whitening toothpaste actually works for you?
Same here, honestly. I tried one of those “extra strength” whitening pastes and it felt like ice water every time I breathed in. Did your sensitivity go away after you stopped, or is it still lingering? I’m a little nerv...
RE: Keeping sore gums in check: what actually works for you?
Totally relate to the “chalky” toothpaste thing - sometimes I rinse and my mouth still feels weird, like there’s a film stuck to my teeth. I kinda gave up on mouthwash for now because it just made everything feel tingly ...
RE: Filling turned into root canal... is this common?
Man, I totally relate to this. I’ve always wondered how my brother can get away with barely brushing and still have perfect teeth, while I’m over here stressing about every little twinge. I just had my first filling ever...
RE: When the first fix doesn’t stick: a dental do-over adventure
Right? I swear, I never thought I’d be so paranoid about biting into a sandwich. My brain instantly goes, “Was that a zing? Or am I just being dramatic?” The pain log idea is actually kinda genius though - never thought ...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
Reading this makes me feel a little less weird about the drooling, haha. I’m using a boil-and-bite right now too and honestly, the first week was so awkward. I kept waking up half convinced I’d choke on it or something. ...
RE: Making brushing fun for little ones - what actually works?
I totally get what you mean about sticker charts and songs wearing off quick. My kid was obsessed with a dinosaur toothbrush for like a week, then suddenly it was “boring” and we were back to square one. I tried the whol...
RE: Plastic or wire? Something weird I learned about retainers
That’s actually a good point about the food getting stuck - those wires are like little food magnets, honestly. I used to be super paranoid about eating anything with the Hawley in, just because I didn’t want to have to ...
RE: Whitening at the Dentist vs. At-Home Kits: Which Did You Like More?
Reading this is making me nervous about my upcoming appointment, not gonna lie. I keep picturing my gums on fire or something. Do they warn you before it starts tingling? I’m tempted to just stick with the strips at home...
RE: Did your teeth feel weird after getting your braces off?
That’s exactly how I felt - like my teeth were suddenly these fragile little things I had to relearn how to use. The first day after getting my braces off, I kept running my tongue over everything, just trying to get use...
RE: Root canal horror stories in the news - should I be worried about picking the right specialist?
I totally get where you’re coming from - picking a dentist feels weirdly high-stakes, especially when all you see are those perfectly staged website photos and five-star reviews that sound suspiciously generic. I’ve spen...
RE: Tooth knocked out at the playground - what now?
Yeah, I’ve always been confused about the milk thing too. I mean, I get that dentists say it’s good for the tooth, but who’s actually carrying around a carton of milk at the park? I barely remember to bring wipes most da...
RE: Worth it for kids’ teeth? Our fluoride varnish experience
That’s actually super reassuring. I’ve been putting off scheduling because I keep imagining a total disaster in the chair, especially since my kid freaks out over the tiniest texture change. That’s probably true for us ...
RE: Do bridges ever actually feel “normal” in your mouth?
That’s actually kinda what I’m worried about - like, will I always know it’s there? I haven’t even gotten my bridge yet (still waiting for the appointment) and I keep reading stuff like this. Guess I was hoping I’d just ...
