RE: What Dental Emergencies Are You Seeing Most With Your Kids?
The reply about facial swelling made me think of another warning sign: fever or a child who seems unusually unwell along with tooth pain can warrant prompt dental or medical assessment, especially if things are getting w...
RE: BRACES HURT WAY MORE THAN I EXPECTED... WHAT HELPS?
I know everyone says ice is the way to go, but honestly, I think it just made my teeth feel even more sensitive... like, almost tingly in a bad way? Maybe I’m weird, but I actually found that a warm (not hot!) washcloth ...
RE: Braces for buck teeth vs deep bites: did you know they're not the same thing?
This cracked me up because my niece did the exact same thing. She tried to eat a burger and just looked so betrayed by life. I honestly thought she’d never get used to the bite plate, but after a week she was back to her...
RE: Weirdly, chewing on the other side after a root canal can make your jaw sore
I totally get the wallet part - those crowns are not cheap. But honestly, for me, I was more worried about messing up my bite than breaking the crown itself. My dentist warned me that if I only chewed on one side for too...
RE: Saw this story about a new “braces-friendly” school lunch menu - what do you pack for your kids?
I’ve actually tried tortillas a few times for my kid (he’s got braces and is super picky), and honestly, they’re hit or miss. If you go with the really soft flour ones - like the “super soft” taco size - they usually wor...
RE: How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?
Funny you mention energy - I actually felt *hungrier* on the soft stuff, like my stomach knew mashed potatoes weren’t gonna cut it. But honestly, I didn’t crash or anything. For me, it was 90% boredom and 10% missing piz...
RE: Worried about 6 root canals
That’s actually kinda tempting. I’m still working up the nerve for my first root canal, so the idea of getting SIX just sounds wild to me. But dragging it out over weeks would probably mess with my head too. My dentist s...
RE: Moving my jaw around after tightening: does it even help?
I totally relate to the confusion here. I always wonder if moving my jaw is helping or just making me more aware of the pain. Last time, I tried chewing a piece of bread (bad idea, 2/10, would not recommend), and it felt...
RE: How I prepped for dental implant sedation and what actually worked
I actually tried those “sleep” podcasts where someone just talks about clouds or rain for an hour. Didn’t cost a thing - just had to ignore the ads. Not sure it worked every time, but sometimes I’d wake up with my headph...
RE: That first week after wisdom teeth removal… did anyone else swear by ice packs?
This is exactly how I felt - I swear I spent more time timing my ice packs than actually resting. It’s like you’re supposed to have this sixth sense for the “perfect moment” to ice, and if you miss it, your cheeks will j...
