RE: When your breath turns evil: a story of mysterious mouth odors
Deep cleaning is basically the dental version of spring cleaning your closet - awkward, a little uncomfortable, but so worth it after. I’ve had patients joke that their breath went from “toxic waste” to “fresh linen” aft...
RE: How I pack and care for my retainer when traveling - step by step
I’ve seen so many people swear by the hard plastic case, and honestly, it’s saved more retainers than I can count. But that minty retainer water… yeah, that’ll wake you up faster than coffee. I’ve always wondered - does ...
RE: Crowns after root canal: always, sometimes, or nah?
Insurance is like that friend who promises to help you move, then just shows up for pizza. I totally get the hesitation - crowns aren’t cheap, and sometimes you hope the filling will just hang in there. But yeah, molars ...
RE: The great dental quest: searching for planet-friendly floss
Silk floss and I have a complicated relationship - sort of like me and kale. I want to love it, but it just doesn’t always work for me. I’ve snapped more than a few pieces trying to wiggle them between tight molars, then...
RE: Keeping your tongue scraper from becoming a science experiment
Honestly, you’re not overthinking it - those things can get gnarly fast. I’ve seen tongue scrapers that could probably grow their own ecosystem if left unchecked. Mouthwash soak is actually a solid move, especially if yo...
RE: Which one actually gets your teeth cleaner: blasting with water or good ol’ string floss?
Honestly, that’s half the battle - finding something you’ll actually do. I’ve seen so many people beat themselves up over not using string floss every single night (and let’s be real, trying to thread that stuff around a...
RE: Making the switch: how I use my water flosser (and where I still mess up)
Haha, you’re definitely not alone - “almost closed lips” is like trying to whistle and gargle at the same time. Starting on low pressure is smart, though. I’ve seen folks crank it up right away and end up with water in p...
RE: KIDS' TOOTHBRUSHES: ELECTRIC VS MANUAL - WHAT'S WORKING FOR YOUR FAMILY?
My nephew was the same way - gave him an electric brush, and it turned into a lightsaber battle with his own reflection. I swear he brushed everything but his teeth. Honestly, I see kids do better when they feel like the...
RE: IMPLANTS VS. DENTURES: DID YOU ACTUALLY FEEL A DIFFERENCE?
Yeah, that “titanium screw” vibe is real. I joke with patients that if you can unscrew your implant with your tongue, you deserve a prize... but seriously, after healing, they’re locked in tight. The popcorn thing cracke...
RE: IMPLANTS VS. DENTURES: DID YOU ACTUALLY FEEL A DIFFERENCE?
That tongue-poking thing is basically a reflex, right? I see folks do it all the time in the chair - sometimes I have to remind them their new “hardware” isn’t going anywhere. Honestly, I hear mixed reviews about adhesiv...
RE: Getting used to new dentures: slow and steady or all at once?
Eggs really are the Houdinis of the breakfast world - one second they’re on your fork, next thing you know they’re stuck to your denture or hiding under your tongue. I’ve seen folks swear by smoothies just for that reaso...
RE: Braces for buck teeth vs deep bite: did you know there’s a difference?
It’s wild how your face just decides to use muscles you never knew you had, right? I always tell people, fixing a deep bite is like sending your jaw to bootcamp. And yeah, overjet folks and their chapstick obsession... i...
RE: Custom Teeth Whitening Trays: Did You Know They’re Reusable?
Haha, the peroxide overnight soak... classic rookie move. You’re definitely not alone there - I’ve seen trays come in looking like they survived a science experiment gone wrong. Mild soap and a soft brush is spot on. I’d...
RE: Braces for buck teeth vs deep bite: did you know there’s a difference?
Haha, teeth really do have a mind of their own. I swear, some molars are just born stubborn. Deep bite tweaks can be brutal - like, who knew moving teeth a millimeter could make your whole face ache? And yeah, the patien...
