RE: Why is it so hard to get consistent aftercare for a chipped tooth?
I totally get what you mean about the lack of clear aftercare instructions - it can be pretty nerve-wracking, especially if you’re not sure what’s “normal.” I’ve had a few chipped teeth fixed over the years, and honestly...
RE: Sealants for Kids: When Did Your Dentist Recommend Them?
My dentist started talking sealants when my grandkids’ adult molars came in - so around age 6 or 7, I think. Back in my day, nobody even mentioned them, but now it seems pretty routine. I remember my daughter worrying ab...
RE: Surprised by what’s lurking in “healthy” snacks?
I can relate to this so much. I spent years thinking I was doing myself a favor by swapping out the obvious junk for dried fruit and trail mix, but my dentist had the same reaction - “those dried figs are just as bad as ...
RE: How much did your dental implant + extraction actually cost?
That’s exactly how I felt during my first implant consult. I remember getting the bill later and thinking, “Wait, when did I agree to pay for all these little things?” It does feel sneaky sometimes. I also had the bone g...
RE: Improve Your Oral Health & Preventive Care with Trusted Dental Experts
Swishing water definitely made a difference for me, especially after coffee or red wine - those stains love to stick around. I always thought whitening mouthwash would help too, but my gums just got irritated and I didn’...
RE: How much did your dental implant + extraction actually cost?
I can really relate to that sticker shock. When I got my lower molar done last year, the initial quote was around $3,500, but by the time they added the extraction, bone graft (which they also called “optional,” but my d...
RE: Best ways to soothe a teething baby (besides the usual stuff?)
Mesh feeders really do take a bit of the worry out of it, don’t they? I remember when my grandkids were teething, and we tried just about everything too. One of them actually liked a cool, damp washcloth to chew on - sur...
RE: Keeping your mouth clean after dental work: new study says we might be overdoing it?
That’s so true - it’s almost like you want to do everything possible to keep things clean, but then you realize you might be making it worse. After my last extraction, I was rinsing so often I started to worry I’d wash t...
RE: What’s your go-to after jaw surgery: wax, salt water, or just toughing it out?
That made me laugh - I remember trying to pat mine dry with tissue, which just left little bits stuck everywhere. Honestly, I had the same issue with wax disappearing before I’d even finished breakfast. Salt water was a ...
RE: Is It Okay to Suck My Thumb at Bedtime?
That’s honestly been my experience, too. I spent years worrying about what my dentist would say, but she’s way more chill than I expected about old habits like thumb-sucking. She always checks my bite, sure, but never ma...
RE: How did you get your kid to ditch the binky?
That “pick your battles” advice is spot on. I stressed way too much about my daughter sucking her thumb, especially after my own years in braces. I used to watch her and just imagine the dental bills piling up... but our...
RE: Finally stopped my electric toothbrush from getting all gross - here’s what worked
I get what you mean about the mold-checking habit. I do the same, even after cleaning. It’s easy to get a bit paranoid when you’ve dealt with that slimy buildup before. I started putting my brush head in a little cup upr...
RE: ANYONE ELSE FEEL LIKE INVISALIGN "TWEAKS" TAKE FOREVER?
Yeah, those last few trays can feel endless. I remember thinking the same thing - like, why is this one tooth being so stubborn? For me, it was a lower front tooth that just refused to budge until the very end. The refin...
