RE: Best way to clean under a fixed full-arch bridge?
Tender tissue can make a water flosser the better choice even where an interdental brush technically fits. Keep it on a low setting and aim along the underside of the bridge rather than directly into the gums. It still ...
RE: Making the Switch: My Steps for Choosing a Gentler Mouthwash
Totally get that “scorched earth” clean feeling - sometimes it’s weirdly reassuring, right? I’ve tried both ends of the spectrum too. For me, the strong rinses do make my mouth feel super fresh, but I always end up with ...
RE: Retainer glued in or popping one in and out?
I totally get the fixed retainer paranoia, but honestly, I’m way more anxious about losing a removable one. I had an Essix for a while and was always freaking out about forgetting it at a restaurant or accidentally tossi...
RE: Keeping pain at bay after wisdom tooth extraction: worth the fuss?
That sounds so familiar - I had the same “soft foods” advice and just kind of guessed what that meant. I agree, comfort is the main thing. For me, avoiding chewy stuff helped a ton with soreness. You’re right, genetics p...
RE: Pain relief that actually works for dry socket?
That’s so real. I tried to stay quiet after my wisdom teeth came out, but it’s impossible when you live with roommates. I also did the tea bag thing and honestly, it just made my mouth feel weirdly gritty. Has anyone eve...
RE: Did you know even a tiny shift in your teeth can mess with your confidence?
That clicking totally threw me off too, especially after my last wire change. I kept worrying I’d messed something up, but honestly, it faded after a couple weeks. It’s wild how even tiny changes in your bite make your j...
RE: Unexpected Everyday Things That Can Tint Your Teeth
That blueberry story reminds me of when I had braces - my orthodontist warned me about colored drinks and foods, but I didn’t realize how much stuff actually leaves a mark. I used to drink a lot of green smoothies, think...
RE: That first week after wisdom teeth removal… did anyone else swear by ice packs?
I totally relate to this. I remember sitting there with my face half-numb, clutching an ice pack and wondering if I was doing it “right” or just making things worse. My surgeon told me cold for the first 24-48 hours, the...
RE: Filling turned into root canal... is this common?
I totally get the frustration - my teeth have always needed more work than my siblings’, even though I’m the one who actually flosses. I’ve had a couple fillings go bad and end up needing root canals, so it’s not just yo...
RE: When the first fix doesn’t stick: a dental do-over adventure
Yeah, I get that “worst-case scenario” spiral way too easily. When my bracket popped off the first week, I was convinced it’d mess up everything. Turned out to be a quick fix, but I definitely hovered and worried way mor...
RE: If Your Braces Hurt Like Crazy At Night, What’s Your Go-To Fix?
I actually tried a heat pack once, thinking it’d be soothing, but for me it just made my gums feel puffier? Maybe it’s just my brain mixing up “warmth = comfort” with “warmth = more throbbing.” Cold stuff always worked b...
RE: Little tricks that helped me recover after gum surgery
Totally get this. After my gum graft, I thought the rinse schedule was overkill too, but then I saw a few pics of what can go wrong... yikes. I ended up setting alarms on my phone for rinses and meds - less stress than t...
RE: How I deal with a busted tooth until I can see the dentist
Seriously, they really do. I’ve had braces for about a year now and I’m always surprised at how quickly things can shift or feel off. One time, a wire poked out overnight and it felt like my whole mouth was falling apart...
RE: Making oral biopsies less scary: my comfort hacks
I totally get what you mean about the “extras” sneaking onto the bill. I’ve had that happen with flavored paste before - thought it was just a fun bonus, but nope, a few bucks showed up on the statement later. Kind of an...
