RE: Does my bite shift before the back teeth meet?
The useful distinction is whether the lower midline changes as the jaw closes. An orthodontist can compare first contact in a gently guided position with the person’s usual closure: if the jaw repeatedly slides and the m...
RE: Which floss brands actually last through the whole mouth?
I hear you on the tight teeth - mine are like puzzle pieces that never quite fit right. I used to cheap out with those store brands, but it always ended up a mess. Glide’s solid, though I’ll admit sometimes it feels a li...
RE: Ice or gauze for a knocked-out tooth - what’s your go-to?
Man, I hear you on the milk thing. I remember when my nephew knocked his tooth out at a baseball game - total chaos. I grabbed some ice and gauze, but honestly, my hands were shaking so much it barely helped. Putting the...
RE: Tips for keeping baby teeth cavity-free?
Man, I hear you on the “chalk” teeth struggle. My youngest has enamel hypoplasia too, and for a while it felt like every checkup was just bad news. You’re right - routine is everything. We ditched juice and bedtime snack...
RE: Keeping old bridges in shape - what actually works?
Not gonna lie, I’m a bit skeptical about water flossers being the holy grail for bridges. Yeah, they blast out a ton of junk and it feels clean, but I’ve had a couple of dentists warn me that if you’re not careful with t...
RE: Feeling stuck between another root canal or just pulling the tooth?
Yeah, the price tag on “permanent” dental work is no joke. I went with a crown a few years back, thinking it’d be the last fix… but then it cracked and I was back in the chair anyway. Sometimes you just can’t win, honest...
RE: How much did your dental implant + extraction actually cost?
Man, I feel you on that one. I’ve had three implants over the years - never once did the final bill match the estimate exactly. Sometimes it was only off by a hundred bucks, sometimes way more because they “found somethi...
RE: What should I have asked before my root canal?
Man, I relate to the “banana incident” way too much. My temp crown lasted about three days before a piece of toast did it in - felt like I’d failed some unspoken dental test. I do wish dentists would be more upfront abou...
RE: Making brushing fun for little ones - what actually works?
Yeah, I get that, but honestly, I’ve seen the same thing with my twins - if it’s just “do it because I said so,” they dig in their heels. Making it playful at first totally lowered the drama. Once the habit was set, we c...
RE: Getting used to new dentures: slow and steady or all at once?
Totally get this. I remember thinking mashed bananas would be a walk in the park, but nope - more mess than success. Toast actually worked better for me too, weirdly enough. I think it’s just about finding what clicks fo...
RE: Chewing Gum That Actually Works For Gross Breath?
I hear you on mints and sprays - neither one really does the trick for me either, especially with dental work in the mix. I used to swear by those little dissolvable strips, but they’d get stuck to my partials and just m...
RE: Braces day jitters: did anyone else feel like a cyborg?
Man, those first days with braces are wild. I remember feeling like I had a mouthful of metal and every bite was some kind of test. For brushing, I found using one of those tiny interdental brushes made things way less s...
RE: Braces day jitters: did anyone else feel like a cyborg?
Man, that first bite of toast after weeks of mushy food is weirdly satisfying, right? I remember trying to eat a banana and even that felt like chewing gravel. I never tried the silicone spoon trick, but I did go through...
RE: Swollen gums after getting braces - normal or not?
Yeah, I hear you about the products being a culprit - definitely happens. But honestly, in my experience, sometimes the swelling just sticks around because your gums are getting used to all that new hardware. I had a str...
