RE: Very loose tooth from gum disease: splint first or extract?
The post-treatment reassessment sounds useful, but could the clinician also rule out problems that won’t improve just by reducing gum inflammation? A crack, a traumatic bite contact, or an abscess could all make a tooth ...
RE: Keeping those stitches clean after a tooth pull - what worked for me
Honestly, I think salt water rinses are underrated. Super cheap, easy, and my oral surgeon actually said it was better than those pricey mouthwashes they try to sell you. I did the same - rinsed after every single thing ...
RE: Keeping those stitches clean after a tooth pull - what worked for me
Honestly, I get the anxiety around using those bulb syringes - they look cheap and practical, but I always felt like one wrong squeeze and I'd mess something up. I actually tried a clean medicine dropper from the dollar ...
RE: Why is it so hard to get consistent aftercare for a chipped tooth?
Honestly, I’m right there with you. After my filling for a chipped tooth, I felt every weird twinge and was convinced something had gone wrong... and yeah, it’s hard to get straight answers or reassurance unless you make...
RE: Why is it so hard to get consistent aftercare for a chipped tooth?
It’s wild how much this stuff depends on which dentist you see and what your insurance feels like covering that day. I totally get the “just smooth it out” approach, but sometimes I wonder if that’s just an excuse to avo...
RE: Laughing gas saved my sanity during my root canal
Honestly, I kind of question whether nitrous is worth the extra charge. I felt groggy for hours, even though I followed all my dentist’s “eat and hydrate” advice. For the price, maybe just toughing it out with local numb...
RE: Switching to floss picks totally changed my nightly routine
Honestly, I feel you on the floss pick struggle. My son just snapped them left and right, and those things aren’t exactly cheap if you’re going through a pack a week. We switched to regular waxed floss too, and yeah, it’...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
I get what you mean about cold stuff being a no-go. My teeth are super sensitive too, and honestly, frozen grapes or popsicles just made things worse for me. But I gotta say, lukewarm oatmeal and scrambled eggs every sin...
RE: Switching to floss picks totally changed my nightly routine
Same here, honestly. I used to skip flossing all the time because the regular stuff just shredded or got stuck. But picks can get pricey, especially if you’re using one per day. I wish there were more affordable options ...
RE: Keeping your teeth strong: my steps for protecting enamel
Fluoride rinse is honestly one of those things I keep buying because the dentist says so, but I can’t say I actually like using it. The aftertaste is just... weird, and I’m never sure if it’s helping or just making me pa...
RE: Which is easier: healing from a simple extraction or a surgical one?
I get where you’re coming from - my wallet definitely noticed the difference between the two types too. When I had a surgical extraction, the swelling and meds were a whole ordeal, plus more follow-up visits (which add u...
RE: How I stopped wrecking my gums with overzealous brushing
Manual brushes are just so much cheaper anyway, which is half my motivation, honestly. I tried an electric once (got one on sale) but kept worrying about the replacement heads - they’re expensive! Plus, I swear my gums f...
RE: When the first fix doesn’t stick: a dental do-over adventure
Waiting a couple days sounds fine if it’s not painful, but honestly, I always wonder if that’s just the office trying to save themselves time. I get that emergencies cost more, but what if waiting makes things worse and ...
RE: Getting used to new dentures: slow and steady or all at once?
Honestly, I tried to power through and eat “normally” right away because I didn’t want to waste food or buy a bunch of special stuff. Big mistake - ended up with sore gums and a half-eaten sandwich. I get why people say ...
