RE: Does a damp washcloth soothe teething differently from a firm ring?
The ring’s construction matters too. I’d look for a simple, one-piece teething design made from material intended for that use, rather than one with separate pieces or add-ons that could break or come loose as it’s chewe...
RE: When your favorite water bottle starts to smell funky
This is basically me with my water bottles and my dental stuff too. I swear, after a couple of rounds with stinky bottles, I started treating them like dental retainers - scrubbing, soaking, even using those little brush...
RE: Braces in your 30s: did you know teeth can move for life?
I hear you on the lifelong maintenance part - it really surprised me too. I had braces in my early 40s and figured once they came off, I’d be set for good. Turns out, my teeth had other plans. My lower front teeth especi...
RE: What’s More Important To Ask: Pain Management Or Long-Term Tooth Health?
Switching to a smaller brush helped me too, especially during flare-ups. I’ve had TMJ issues since my teens, and it’s wild how something as basic as brushing can become a struggle. I used to obsess over missing a night, ...
RE: What foods did you give up or swap after getting braces?
Haha, I totally relate to this - dried fruit was my “healthy” swap too, but it’s a trap. I gave up granola bars after one disastrous attempt at eating one at school... spent forever picking oats out of my wires. Did anyo...
RE: How did you get your kid to ditch the binky?
Trading for a toy was our go-to, too. My daughter was super attached to her binky - honestly, I think I was more nervous about her teeth than she was about giving it up. I remember my own dentist making a big deal about ...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
Totally get what you mean about the bristles. I switched to medium after my hygienist pointed out some stubborn plaque spots, but I had to retrain myself not to go too hard. Funny thing - my dentist actually recommended ...
RE: When your teeth start wiggling: a dental horror story starter
That’s honestly way too relatable. I once tried to convince myself saltwater rinses would magically tighten a wobbly molar - spoiler, they didn’t. The bill was a gut punch, but ignoring it would’ve just made things worse...
RE: Surprised by how much gum health affects diabetes and heart issues
That first deep cleaning is no joke - I remember thinking my gums would never stop throbbing. I totally get what you mean about the soreness making you want to give up. For me, I actually did see my A1C drop a bit after ...
RE: Custom Teeth Whitening Trays: Did You Know They’re Reusable?
I’ve actually wondered about this myself because I used to clean my trays with hydrogen peroxide, thinking it’d be extra thorough. My dentist wasn’t thrilled - he said it can degrade the plastic over time and sometimes l...
RE: HOW OFTEN DO YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE YOUR DENTIST AFTER IMPLANTS?
That sounds so familiar. After my first implant, I was hyper-aware of every tiny sensation - like, if I felt the slightest twinge, I’d convince myself something was off. My dentist kept saying, “If it looks and feels fin...
RE: Finally figured out how to eat pizza without crying
That is honestly the most accurate description I’ve seen. After my wisdom teeth came out, I remember staring down a slice of pizza with a fork and knife, feeling like I was prepping for surgery. Pizza was actually much e...
RE: Worth it for kids’ teeth? Our fluoride varnish experience
The varnish taste is the worst - my daughter always says it feels like she’s got glue on her teeth. But I’ve seen the same thing as you: fewer cavities, especially when she’s been on a candy bender. Our dentist told us i...
RE: Little things that helped me avoid post-surgery infections
I totally relate to this. After my wisdom teeth removal, I was hyper-aware of every little thing that might cause an infection. Swapped my toothbrush the same day they took the stitches out - didn’t even think twice. My ...
RE: Bouncing back after a makeover disaster
I totally get trying the sensitive formulas, but honestly, even those didn’t work for me. I tried a couple brands - still got that zappy pain, even with the “gentle” ones. Ended up switching to whitening toothpaste inste...
