I swear my wallet gets a cavity just looking at them.

Right? I checked the price on one of those fancy xylitol packs and almost needed to sit down. I’ve tried the regular sugar-free gum from the gas station and honestly, it seems to do the trick for me—at least no one’s backed away mid-convo yet. I did try the “miracle” gums once and didn’t notice much difference, except my bank account felt lighter. Maybe it’s just hype?

Honestly, I’m right there with you—those “miracle” gum prices are wild. I usually just grab whatever’s on sale at the checkout and call it good. Haven’t noticed anyone recoiling in horror yet, so that’s a win in my book. Has anyone actually found a budget-friendly gum that really makes a difference, or is it all just clever marketing?

I used to do the exact same thing—whatever was cheapest, right into my bag. But then I started getting paranoid after a coworker handed me a mint with that “you need this” look. That sent me down a rabbit hole of “miracle” gums and mouthwashes. Most of them just made my wallet lighter, honestly.

The one time I actually noticed a difference was with some random store-brand gum that had xylitol as the main ingredient. It wasn’t fancy or expensive, but I did feel like my mouth stayed fresher longer. Maybe it was placebo? Who knows. Still, I think as long as you’re chewing something sugar-free and not just masking coffee breath with fruit flavor, you’re probably fine.

Funny how much marketing goes into these things... Sometimes I think it’s more about confidence than chemistry.

That hits home. After my dentures, I tried every gum under the sun—most tasted weird or stuck to the plate. Sugar-free with xylitol seems to help some, but honestly, swishing water after coffee did more for me than any gum.

Swishing water after coffee is such an underrated move. I do the same—seems to get rid of that weird aftertaste way better than most gums, honestly. The xylitol ones are hit or miss for me too, sometimes they just taste... off, or leave a film. Has anyone tried those breath sprays or mints instead? I’m curious if they’re any less annoying with dentures.
