My breath could probably kill a cactus - help me out here

So yesterday, my coworker casually offered me gum out of nowhere, and it hit me...maybe my breath has been pretty awful lately. I brush twice a day and floss (okay, mostly floss), but clearly something isn't working. I'm thinking I might need to step up my game with mouthwash or tongue scrapers or something. Has anyone else dealt with this sort of embarrassing realization? Curious what worked for you guys...

Had a similar wake-up call when I got braces...turns out braces trap food like crazy, and regular brushing just didn't cut it. Tongue scraper was a total game changer for me, honestly. Mouthwash helps too, but scraping your tongue gets rid of stuff you didn't even know was there. Maybe it's diet-related too? Ever notice certain foods making it worse?
My daughter just got braces a few months ago, and honestly, I had no idea how much extra maintenance they'd require. At first, we thought regular brushing would be enough, but nope...her breath was getting pretty rough too. We started using those little interdental brushes - they're tiny and fit right between the brackets - and that helped a lot. Tongue scraping definitely made a difference as well, but I also noticed certain foods seemed to make things worse. Garlic and onions are obvious culprits, but dairy products like milk or cheese seemed to linger longer than usual. Maybe it's just her, but cutting back on dairy snacks during the day really improved things.
Also, not sure if you're already doing this, but drinking more water throughout the day helps flush out some of the trapped food particles. I was skeptical at first (I mean, how much can water really do?), but it genuinely made a noticeable difference for her. Anyway, braces are stressful enough without worrying about breath issues - hope you find something that works!
We went through something similar with my son - braces really do trap everything. Chewing sugar-free gum (if the orthodontist allows it) helped freshen things up between meals...might be worth asking about? Hang in there, it does get easier eventually.
Had a similar issue myself a while back, and it turned out to be my tonsils. Apparently, tonsil stones (gross, I know) can cause some pretty nasty breath even if your oral hygiene is on point. Started using a tongue scraper and gargling warm salt water every night, which really helped clear things up. Gum and mints kinda masked it temporarily, but dealing with the source made a huge difference. Might be worth checking into if brushing and flossing aren't cutting it.
