I remember thinking my braces were practically permanent fixtures at one point, lol. The waiting game is rough, especially with underbites since they're trickier to correct. But you're right—figuring out if it's skeletal or dental makes a huge difference. I had jaw surgery myself, and honestly, the anticipation was way worse than the actual procedure. Recovery wasn't exactly fun, but it was manageable...and totally worth it in the end. Hang tight, you're already on the right track just by looking into all this stuff.

Couldn't agree more about the recovery being worth it. My son had braces for what felt like an eternity too—seriously, we joked they'd still be on for his wedding photos someday, haha. Turns out his underbite was mostly skeletal, so surgery was the way to go. Honestly, the lead-up anxiety was way worse than the actual experience. He's now brace-free and smiling nonstop...hang in there, it's amazing how quickly you forget the waiting once they're finally off.

Totally relate to the anxiety beforehand being worse than reality. My daughter had surgery for her underbite too, and honestly, the braces felt endless. But once they're off, it's like night and day—she's way more confident now. Hang in there, you're almost through the toughest part.

I remember feeling exactly the same way when I had braces for my underbite. Honestly, the waiting and worrying beforehand was way worse than the actual surgery or recovery. I kept thinking it would never end, especially those last few months—they dragged on forever. But once they finally came off, it was such a relief. Eating felt normal again, and I stopped being self-conscious about smiling in photos. It's funny how quickly you adjust afterward...like you almost forget how long it took to get there. Anyway, you're definitely not alone in feeling this way—hang in there, it'll be worth it soon enough.

Haha, totally relate...felt like I aged ten years waiting for mine to come off. Weirdest part was getting used to my new bite—kept accidentally biting my cheek. Did anyone else have that awkward adjustment phase after braces?
