I totally get that worry about silver bands looking yellowish—happened to me too, and I was convinced everyone could see it. For me, dark purple was actually a decent choice. It didn’t seem to pick up stains as much as green or blue, but sometimes under certain lights it looked almost black, which took some getting used to. Still, I’d pick it over green just because I was always nervous about the “food stuck” look. I guess there’s no perfect color, but dark purple felt a bit safer for hiding stains, at least in my case.

Interesting, I actually went with navy blue thinking it’d be subtle and not show stains much, but after a few weeks it started looking kind of dull and almost grayish. Did you ever try black bands? I heard they’re supposed to hide stains really well, but I was worried they’d make my teeth look more yellow than they are.

I actually did try black bands for a few months, mostly because I read somewhere they’re “low maintenance” (and let’s be real, I’m not about to pay for extra cleanings if I can help it). They definitely hid stains better than lighter colors, but yeah, there’s a bit of truth to the yellowing thing. On me, it was like my teeth went from “off-white” to “banana cream pie” under certain lighting. If you’re on a budget and don’t want to swap bands too often, dark green or even charcoal gray might be a good compromise—they don’t show stains as much and don’t highlight yellow tones quite as badly.

Has anyone tried navy blue bands? I keep hearing they’re supposed to be pretty forgiving with stains and not make your teeth look weirdly yellow. I’m honestly a little nervous about anything too dark after reading some of these posts, though. I always thought black would look kind of cool, but now I’m second guessing it. Did anyone regret picking a super dark color, or does it just depend on the lighting?

I’ve actually tried both navy blue and black bands, and I’ll say navy is way more forgiving than black. Black looked awesome at first, but under certain lighting, it straight up made my teeth look kinda dull, not exactly yellow but just… off. I think it’s because the contrast is so harsh. Navy’s a little softer but still dark enough to not show stains.

Totally get that. The thing is, with navy, food stains don’t really show unless you’re eating something wild like curry or turmeric. Black didn’t stain, but if you’ve got even a hint of yellow in your teeth, it’ll exaggerate it. I do kind of regret black, tbh, but navy’s been chill.

Has anyone noticed if lighter colors like teal or light blue make your teeth look brighter, or is that just a myth? I’m tempted to try something lighter next round but worried they’ll stain faster.
