That’s interesting—our experience with sealants was a bit different. My son was super sensitive to anything in his mouth too, but the dentist used this flavored gel before putting the sealant on and it actually helped him tolerate it. We had one chip, but they just patched it up at the next cleaning. Maybe it’s not a fix-all, but for us, it was worth trying more than once. I guess it’s just a lot of trial and error with kids...

Interesting to hear how the flavored gel helped. My daughter’s pretty sensitive too, and honestly, we had a hard time convincing her to even open her mouth for sealants the first time. I never thought about asking for different flavors, but maybe that’s worth a shot next round. We had one sealant pop off after a few months—felt kind of frustrating, but the dentist replaced it without much fuss. I guess nothing’s perfect with kids’ teeth, but at least these “raincoats” give us a little extra protection in the battle against cavities.

I get what you’re saying about sealants as “raincoats,” but I’ve been a little hesitant about them myself. My dentist mentioned they can sometimes trap bacteria if there’s already a tiny cavity starting, and that kind of freaked me out. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but I keep wondering if the extra protection is worth it or if we’re just covering up a problem? Still, hearing your experience with the dentist replacing the popped-off one is reassuring. Maybe I just need to ask more questions next time...

That’s exactly what made me pause too. I kept picturing this tiny bit of decay hiding under the sealant, just getting worse while I had no idea. My insurance barely covers the basics, so paying for something that might backfire is stressful. But then again, the dentist said they check really carefully before putting them on... Still, I always feel like I need to triple-check stuff like this, just in case.

Yeah, I get what you mean—my brain instantly went to “what if there’s like a sneaky cavity chilling under there?” I’m always paranoid about stuff hiding where I can’t see it. My dentist did the whole “we check super close” routine too, but I still triple-guess every decision, especially when my wallet’s involved. Dental FOMO is real...
