RE: My Gums Are Retreating Faster Than My Hairline
The bamboo-handle question is separate from what’s causing the recession: brushing isn’t the only possibility, and gum disease can also contribute. If recession is noted, a dentist can examine the gums and help sort out ...
RE: Which floss brands actually last through the whole mouth?
Dude, the struggle is real. I tried one of those “super strong” flosses (the ones that advertise they’re made with space-age fibers or whatever) and honestly, it was like trying to thread a shoelace through my teeth. Zer...
RE: Daily mouthwash vs. regular dental checkups for keeping your mouth healthy?
Man, if only mouthwash was the cheat code for dental health… I’d be winning. I used to think a quick swish was all I needed after late-night snacks, but my dentist totally called me out. Tried skipping flossing for a cou...
RE: Did you know kids’ sports guards can help with more than just broken teeth?
Funny thing, my nephew actually said he got *more* fidgety when he switched to a custom one. Maybe it’s just him, but he kept messing with it because it felt “too smooth” (his words). Guess the old chunky guard kept him ...
RE: Tooth Knocked Out At Playground - What Would You Do?
Man, this is the kind of stuff that makes me wish kids came with a “Ctrl+Z” button. Totally agree on the don’t-Google-images bit - last time I did, I couldn’t look at apples for a week. The milk thing always cracks me up...
RE: Tips for keeping baby teeth cavity-free?
Man, I totally relate to the snack patrol struggle. I used to think if it wasn’t straight-up sugar, we were golden... but yeah, apparently crackers are just undercover sugar for teeth. My kid’s a pro at sneaking those “h...
RE: Do you think Aligners brand really matters for your teeth conditions?
That’s wild about the cracking - never had that happen but I do grind like crazy at night, so now I’m paranoid. I went with the dentist route too, mostly because the idea of messing up my own teeth was a little too DIY f...
RE: braces vs clear aligners: which made you feel less self-conscious?
Man, that “neon sign in my mouth” feeling is way too real. I remember thinking everyone was staring at my braces, but honestly, nobody cared. I get what you mean about aligners too - the whole popping-them-out-at-lunch t...
RE: Pain relief that actually works for dry socket?
Man, I feel this. My nephew had a dry socket too and he was just miserable - like, “don’t talk to me, I’m living on the couch now” level. The dentist did that clove oil packing thing and it smelled funky but apparently h...
RE: Why is post-extraction care so confusing?
Man, I feel you on the NASA vibes. After my extraction, I swear I had like three different printouts and they all contradicted each other. My doc said no hot foods, but my cousin was like, “Soup is fine, just don’t slurp...
RE: Worth it to put protective coatings on kids’ teeth?
Man, you nailed it there. I swear, every time I take my kid in, it feels like they’re trying to upsell me on something new - like I’m at the dentist version of the Apple Store. “Would you like the premium protective coat...
RE: How often do you actually swap out your night guard?
Man, I totally get the pickle-mouth thing. I tried the vinegar soak once and it was like my mouthguard went full deli mode. Ended up just rinsing it a million times and hoping for the best. Mine’s pushing a year too - no...
RE: The great dental quest: searching for planet-friendly floss
Dude, same. I swear, every time I look at that thing, I’m like… is this secretly a science experiment in my bathroom? I try to run hot water through it after each use, but let’s be real - I definitely forget more than I ...
RE: Battling receding gums: surgery vs. special toothpaste - what worked for you?
Yeah, same boat here. I was ready to shell out for surgery, but switching to a soft brush and just chilling out with the flossing made a bigger difference than I expected. The fancy pastes like Sensodyne help with the “o...
RE: Which Feels Better: Custom Vs. Boil-And-Bite Mouthguards?
Man, same here. I gave up trying to keep mine looking fresh - looks like a science experiment now. I will say, the custom guard actually made me stop waking up with jaw pain, but grinding itself? Still a nightly soundtra...
